This African brother not only made Black Africa proud but he also makes us (African descendants) in the diaspora proud as well. Well done Mr. Diebedo Francis Kere.

Kere, doesn't follow- he leads! And he leads through his wisdom, by staying connected to his roots, to the earth. And that's the reason, his works are so alive and always evolving, like nature itself. Thank you putting up this video on Kere. He is inspirational! 👍🏻

@@aodhanofailain Mr Kéré’s work needs to be taught in all Western schools of architecture.. they already has.. but Kéré’s concept is not new.. in the far east its a thousand years old already..

I like how he matches the colour of the building to the natural colour of the soil . Using bright colour for example in Kenya makes the buildings look old when rain pours and soil splashes on the walls.

I love that despite being an internationally employed architect, his work seems to be directed to being experienced by everyone. It's rooted instead of grandiose.

The most interesting thing about his work is the involvement of the community, I mean imagine the space you are using that you have built.

Your ancestry created extremely beautiful artifacts which even caught the eyes of European colonists who stole them. This show how talented we are in creativity. So embrace architecture and take it to a higher level with an African twist

@@ChampChamp2024Actually...African traditional architecture was never confined to mudhuts...look up the images of the following:traditional bamum architecture, traditional akan architecture, traditional hausa architecture,traditional kotoko Kingdom architecture,traditional Malian architecture...huts...most people would decorate their huts...an example is ...traditional Ndebele architecture...and there are extras...I find it rather concerning that we have Google and people still insist on being ignorant
@faithkerubo8357
@faithkerubo8357 23 күн бұрын
Same with Ethiopians...traditional aksumite architecture,traditional zagwe architecture and traditional Ethiopian bamboo houses are all very african and Ethiopian...same with swahili architecture...which has morphed a lot over the years...initially,it was huts...then homes made of local coral limestone then homes that are found in...old mombasa town...to homes that look like tropical resorts eg naomi Campbell's home in malindi...it was hotels that copied the locals
@faithkerubo8357
@faithkerubo8357 23 күн бұрын
@@ChampChamp2024so...basically,you and the original commenter need to use Google a bit more...European architecture takes heavy influence from the middle east...quite frankly,it should be called middle Eastern architecture

The way Kere uses locally sourced materials, updates traditional building methodologies, and brings people of the community together to participate in the construction of his projects is quite visionary. His works undoubtedly become a huge source of local pride. Especially endearing is that many of his projects are designed for children. Perhaps some of them will find his works inspire them to study architecture.

I liked some of the designs in theory but the coordinates seems to be off as with most people. Like the residential area - built all out in center. Each house is individual and should have been placed on lots taking taking the physical environment in consideration. Then leaving space between areas designing for instance in increments of 12 block increments with each area having its own uniqueness. If the house built on lots you can build over time with each family having their privacy. Thanks for letting me share. You know the floors. Would you consider designing floors off the ground.
