Gonna move out to Memphis in a few months due work, you guys videos have been helping a lot since I have no idea how US and the state culture is. I even got an idea of the area I'll be looking to live. You always mention the sports scene hope you got some people whom are into soccer too haha Keep up with the content my man

I’m happy to hear they have been helpful! Soccer isn’t too big here but I think it is growing in popularity. We don’t have an MLS team but we do have a USL team, 901 FC.

I’m born and raised in Memphis, moved away for 20yrs. Been back since 2016. I could literally live anywhere in the world but love this city. I think the bad is highlighted more than the many great so I’m very happy about this video. ❤

@@kimberlymorton4690 time of my life tbh. I stayed in the strrreets, festivals, clubs, house parties. Everything I needed. I’ve kinda slowed down now but I still love Memphis. I’m transitioning to other interest that Memphis has to offer. I like that there is very little traffic, the cost of living is still reasonable, Memphis gets a mild version of all seasons. Even the job market has been good to me. It’s not perfect & ur gonna hate it if u focus on the negative and listen to the naysayers. If u seek out the many good aspects & uniqueness, u’ll be good. Just remember the doors don’t lock behind u. Try it and if u don’t like it move on. I’m still here cuz i just can’t think of where else i would move all things considered.

I take possession of a second / vacation home in Memphis soon. My biggest concern is crime. If things don't mprove in the next few year I'm going to ditch the property.

I really think once u move here u will realize the crime is not a major issue in ur everyday life. Block out the noise from the locals and learn the city for urself.

@@banko1808 Your welcome to exit left. The doors r not locked. There r plenty of other places at the same or lower price point. Mississippi is a stone’s throw to the right and Arkansas to the left. We don’t need nobody here that doesn’t resonate with the Memphis culture especially somebody that chose to move here. Please leave and take ur negative energy with u. Why somebody would make the decision and the effort to move and stay somewhere they hate makes no damn sense 😠

I think Californians and New Yorkers would love the cost of living but Memphis and the south in general, maybe too much of a culture shock for them.

@mari_j_mc As long as you southern people don't bring your weirdness to me, I'm ok, I just stay locked inside. Trust me, once I finish school, I'm out. It's not a great privilege to be in the most violent city in America, so idk who you think you're flexing on. Memphis culture, from what I observed, celebrates violence and degeneracy. Anyone who is smart would never associate themselves with such a culture, a culture that's nothing but negative energy. You don't know me or my situation, or how I came to be stuck here specifically, another thing you people are horrible at, making broad assumptions about things you know nothing about, it's the ignorance for me sis.

U probably could google that information but ur more likely to find art & music museums. Memphis arts community is pretty big and investments r being made to grow it.

Yes, in some areas. Memphis is still a majority black city but I see some of the older black neighborhoods r being revitalized and that means some gentrification. we welcome the investment in the city as long as the history and culture is respected & preserved. We r excited about the growth in diversity.

Other sports teams Memphis Hustle - the G League team to the grizzlies play in Southaven Memphis 901fc - they play in the USL Championship, one step down from the MLS

The University of Memphis basketball and football is big as well. Not a sports team but Memphis and surrounding areas have great golf courses and some of the biggest golf tournaments in the country. We also have the Redbirds, a minor league baseball team.

Shelby county has the highest property taxes in the state. And the Memphis mayor just put in another tax increase. Not to mention it’s the most dangerous city in America....

The surrounding counties have much lower taxes and much lower crime rates. If the city of Memphis isn't for you, there are plenty of options around that probably would work
