In order to create a successful project you need to do a lot more than just write code. In this video I break down the 8 crucial steps that you need to follow when you create any new project. These 8 steps will lead you on the path to success with you project.
1. Determine the goal of the project
2. Determine the target audience of the project
3. Figure out the core feature/component of the project
4. Think about the technology needed for the project
5. Design the UI/UX of the project with design tools
6. Build a quick and dirty MVP of the core feature/component of the project
7. Get the project in front of users
8. Iterate!
🧠 Concepts Covered:
- How to plan a new project
- The importance of an MVP
- How to user test a project
- What to consider when creating a new project

These are some killer advices, especially the 7nth. It doesn't even matter who you get to try your stuff out. I had my father to explain to what's the purpose of the app I was building is and had him trying it out, he immediately gave me some reasonable feedback on thing I didn't even think about. And he isn't into development at all, just a regular senior guy

Golden steps! I always tend to over-engineer my projects with features that I like, but no-one actually use or care about.. It not only is a waste of time, but also a crack in your ego (sometimes) because you notice not everyone follows your vision that you've planned on making. The 7th and 8th step is for me the key I must work on :) Thanks for these steps!

Keep doing videos like this, also I would love a video about real life applications of design patterns. Thanks for all your videos. Cheers from Perú.

Most of the real life apps will be waterfall style as business pays for the result they want only. Iterative style is a myth. Even if you get investors they will want a measurable result.
@WebDevSimplified
@WebDevSimplified 4 жыл бұрын
I have to strongly disagree. I work in an iterative approach at my job and it is very successful. Waterfall is a thing of the past that is quickly being irradicated
@aammssaamm
@aammssaamm 4 жыл бұрын
@@WebDevSimplified What do you disagree with? That most of the projects are waterfall and you work on a single one which is not? Waterfall remains the main vehicle with a clear scope, requirements and tight deadlines in serious enterprise projects. There is no other way of doing it as you cannot give business just 2 features and make them wait for another 5 during next 2 years. They'll hire someone who can do it in one shot.
@joelvizcarra7618
@joelvizcarra7618 4 жыл бұрын
@@aammssaamm I think it depends, some projects tend to change a lot, so is really difficult define all the features since the beginning, in that case an iterative solution would be better, others projects are easy to define or maybe the team have experience with this kind of projects and the scope is already known, so waterfall is the way to go. About the results, scrum for example in the end of each Sprint the team should have an functional software, so it depends.
@WebDevSimplified
@WebDevSimplified 4 жыл бұрын
@@aammssaamm A business would rather have 2 features now and another new features each month for 5 months than wait for the same 7 features to all be dropped at once. This is especially true since those 7 features will more than likely change by the time the are created.

Every time I want to start a project, my thought process be like: 1. Project goal: I'm not rich, and need to be a billionaire. 2. Target audience: anyone with money. 3. Core app feature: payments processing. 4. Technology: not Python. 5. Design UI/UX: spend way too much time on this. 6. Build core app feature: start writing boilerplate code and setup, get bored. 7. ... skip 8. ...what was I doing again?

Hi, what I did, was making chrome or Firefox extensions. One of the ways I used to find project ideas was asking people: What are some Chrome extensions you'd like to use on Firefox? Then you have some interesting extensions you can port to Firefox. Because the APIs are very similar, I could port an extension in two days, and learn a lot about Javascript, seeing and adapting someone else's code to make it work on Firefox It was actually quite a bit of fun :) And easier than building your own addon :) Now that I have seen some common patterns in Chrome addons, I canwrote my own fairly easily

The reality is that it's very hard to write software people want because software gets in the way of what people really want. People make mistakes but Software is unforgiving. Best pieces of software assume that the user will make mistakes and nudges the user in the right direction.
