Every sport has his/her GOAT. Badminton only has 1. Lin Dan = GOAT. No one will ever reach the hights he reached. Sure, there will always be another great badminton player, who will be remembered as one of the greats, but there can only be one GOAT

Whats most amazing about LinDan is his mentality about dominance. He starts off as an aggressive brat, but turns that into a calm type of arrogant. Lots of times he's been in a pinch but you can see it in his eyes saying "Nope not gonna lose, not today" and he just dominates the court. This is what differentiates him with his rival, LeeChongWei most of the time. You can clearly see it in their body posture, not saying LCW is bad but LinDan just simply gives off a king's aura. Even the way LinDan celebrates like a sparta or somewhat.

LCW is probably more skillful than LD, but LD mental strength is really what gives him the edge over LCW. History would have been different had LCW won the few close calls in those big games, but LD just had the better mental fortitude.

Lin Dan is undisputed goat, 2 gold medals and 5 world championships, only played to ever complete super grand slam and at the age of 28 no less, and so many other awards. Played in the greatest era ever and spent his whole career playing against arguably the second greatest of all time in lcw(2 times in Olympics and 2 times in world finals) and walked away with by far the greatest accolades of all time. His accolades are so far above everyone else it’s not even funny god of badminton

Lin Dan's 31 matches winning streak was without any retirement or withdrawal. Axelsen's 39 matches winning streak has 2 withdrawals due to the fact he wasn't fit enough to play. Has Axelsen not withdrew, he likely wouldn't beat LD's winning streak.

The fact that He could withstand Males full power smashes with the hammer He use to play with (stiff head heavy rackets) speaks volumes about his physical abilities. If you put the legends players on a vertical scale the one from LD and LCW reach orbital values.. Those guys used to TOY with their opponents in their prime, no wonder They stayed on top for SO LONG..

Yah benar, kata Taufik ga dilebihkan. Setelah juara Olympic London 2012, Lin Dan vakum ampir setahun & comeback di World Championship Guangzhou 2013, dan juara lagi stlh kalahin LCW lagi difinal.

LD greatness is not just the gold medal, he also face great and strong opponents during his career. LCW could've 1 world champion or olympic champion if LD's top condition didn't totally overlap LCW top condition.

The difference was that LD went left backward the entire court while LCW only started to sprint at the mid line, also LCW shot the birdie rlly quickly but LD still had time to hit it forward

@@jayceh no, but he is very good and has a winning streak to prove his ability. But to be honest, I don't know how good the current Axelsen is against LD during his prime. We will never know.

@@svcupc well let's put it this way. Axelsen was 3-13 against pre-accident Momota and equally awful against an older and clearly slower LCW. I believe combined he's about 5-25 or thereabouts. And neither of those guys could match peak LD. Prime LCW got close in skill but lost 70% of the time. Momota would have been crushed. We're currently going through a very weak era of badminton where probably only Axelsen and pre-accident Momota would even compete in the Golden Age with LCW, LD, Chen Long, etc

Lcw was never a real rival 27 to 11 is 71% Victory to ld, n 100% in all important finals like Olympics n world championships, lcw wasn't a long rally player and was less strategic than LD

Not true ... the scores were extremely close in some of the big finals against LD where LCW were leading in the final stretches ... its a rivalry, sometimes things keeps tilting one way in close matches so the h2h hides how close those matches were ....

This tells me you don't really know and read badminton very well..a player like lin dan.. seemingly invincible..could only loose to one player in the world in competition..so you're telling me Lin Dan lost 12..12 matches .to lee chong wei by his own choice??..there is a logic of playing styles..that may suit more to play against one player..like ..lin had to really change is play against left handed players.. specially from China..like Bao chi lai...2010,11,12 period..lee Chong wei was invincible too.. defeated Lin Dan in stright games convincingly in many matches .or any other player...lee Chong wei continually played the circuit throughout the year where as Lin Dan took breaks..worked on his physique to keep up with the body 'age..where are lee was only second to a cat holding incredible power..peak fit till the end of his career... badminton was blessed to have a player like lee ....i am not saying who's better whos not .i just mean that you could go on arguing bht never reach a conclusion

He might be the GOAT, but actually got other factors help him to be GOAT. Strong team mates, best coaches, a lot of influence from PRC team on BWF, which LCW don't have.

Back then LCW carried his nation to the highest level of badminton alone and still win a lot of titles. Remember olympic 2016 when after LCW defeated LD in the finals he went straight with Chen Long which is tough considering he only rested for 1 day.
