Its easier for me to think of the last digit. Its descending 2s (8,6,4,2,0).

I do a similar pattern with 9s. Adding 1 in the 10s place and subtracting 1 in the 1s place value.

Interesting! I was taught the pattern for multiplying 9s. The first digit ascends (0 to 9), the second digit descends (9 to 0). 09 18 27 36 45 54 63 72 81 90
