Loved it! This reminds me so much of visiting World of Spectrum back in the 2000s and being completely overwhelmed by the bazzilion games I could try. After not finding Dizzy I'd click on some random ones and have a similar experience as shown here. Moar plz!

This reminds me of when i bought a pile of disks for my c64 with various games copied onto them from an ad in the local cornershop. We'd just load these random games without knowing what they were, how to play them, if theyd be remotely professional or the sort of existential nightmare that only 80s home computer games could conjure.

7:58 The "play" being displayed in the picture, is beacause you've loaded the game in 128k mode. It's trying to dsiplay the 48k UDG characters, which is used by the command play on a 128. So it's a BASIC game. Oh dear.

That was a great video, more please :). Mac Man's Magic Mirror definitely looked the best of the lot. If you want a good game not many people seem to know about try Krakatoa from Abbex, although be warned the keys are a bit fiddly at first.

The first one, why it is upsetting? ;:) Somewhat normal Spectrum sound but yes ok. Nice video, I have to say even though I've played quite a lot of Spec. games there are so many that... yes... I've never... this, your video, is golden :) Cheers... Nowadays I have hard time trying to play so called platform games but there were times when I liked for example jet set willy "stuff". So similar sounds in that one game.. PS. Easy nice piano playing in the background. Thanks for this video!

I would unironically play and enjoy that mirror game. Also, the music in Uncle Jack sounds just like the Keyboard Cat song. I'm not that if that makes it an automatic 0/10 or 10/10...

I remember seeing the star of the TV Show "Uncle Jack" on TV, in "Rock Family Trees". Nice man, I had no idea why he was on there until I finally got that he used to be the lead singer of Manfred Mann. Well done on completing that adventure game! My mate and I *nearly* completed Heroes of the Lance but we forgot to pick up the Macguffin before leaving the screen so we lost. Interesting classical music on the motorbike game... "A Wand'ring Minstrel I" from the Mikado. A TEXT ADVENTURE? Bold move, Cotton. Ah, I can see you're playing in 128K mode. That'll screw up the graphics if they use UDGs. I like Fanky Punky's sexy lady coffee table. Mac Man Magic Mancunian Mirror was surprisingly engaging!

I grew up in the States as a happy C64 owner and have been discovering how great the Spectrum is... but then there's stuff like Uncle Jack to deal with.

Love these speccy vids, if u are after a 'new format' u wouldn't believe the quality of new speccy games getting released, u ought to review new speccy games..

I remember that pool game from back in the day, it was even worse back then without the nostalgic irony. That's how I remember speccy gaming - there were about 10 good games, and the rest was like this 😀

the graphics in crazy motocycle rally appear to be somewhat bugged. I *think* it might need (if need is the right word) to be played on an original 16 or 48k, there's some kind of weirdness about the keyboard interface on older Spectrums I think. It's pulling keywords from the ROM instead of displaying graphics.

There is a good puzzle game hidden somewhere in that mirror game. Keep going, eventually you'll find a rough diamond in all this.

My highly intellectual thoughts on each game: 1. "We have Manic Miner at home" 2. Jimmy White's Gentle Afternoon Breeze Snoo... er, Pool. 3. Finally, a game suited for my attention span! 4. The only thing that's crazy about this is the level of disrespect for the player's time 5. Everyone's a Wally, but... Spanish-y 6. Someone may actually have found a worse format for Lemmings than "3D". 7. How have you made FRUIT MACHINES complicated? 8. If this wasn't presented to disappointed children with a cry of "reflect on this!" I don't want to know.

In my mind all Spectrum games are ace. This is just a sad reminder that for every Renegade, there are about 20 Kung Fu Masters. Still, it's nice you can mine the dirt for some value. Top entertainment.

Why does Uncle Jack say "HAI"? Is he Japanese? I do enjoy text adventures but the ones I like are the good Infocom ones. It kind of freaks me out when I see other types send you messages at the prompt like "Okay, now what?/Tell me what to do/I'm ready for your instructions/etc." It makes me irrationally nervous, like the game is impatiently pestering me to do something.

Just confirms that the vast majority of Speccy games are junk. And I say that as a Speccy fan. Still, I prefer the random element to just waxing lyrical about Jet Pac for the seven millionth time 😁
