It is such a shame that bureaucrats would rather see historic buildings crumbled to nothing rather than letting someone with the money to restore it. Another great video, xx

Damn shame that castle will end up a pile of rubble with nothing to show of the history of it if the owners don’t get to renovate it!!! Gets my goat that does!! Thanks for taking us around Katie and Scott,, it was lovely ❤

Scott, I have a lightweight saw, weed eater and blower that have rechargeable batteries. I works well for me when my husband is at work and a limb has fallen. I am in my 70’s and would be lost without theses tools. I just have half a dozen batteries and I take a couple extras with me when working. we have 12 acres and I don’t have enough extension cords to use the other tools we have. Plus, I can’t lift them because they are so heavy. I found the ones that were operated by petrol too heavy for me as well. You made a good purchase, a wise decision but, it is limited to smaller limbs and trees. I agree with you it’s the perfect thing for a lady. Winnsboro, Texas

As a single lady in the Yukon, I bought two of those little saws & gifted one to a friend. We both love them even though some guys laughed at the size. Oil the chain every time you switch batteries, and I take the plate off & tighten the chain every few uses, remove any built-up gunge (easy job.) On their 2nd summer, we're both impressed at how handy, light weight & useful they are (great for camping as well.) And fun. 💪😁ps- our batteries work for hours, 2 last me an entire weekend of small tree & brush cutting. 🤷‍♀

@@TheScottishIsle So glad to hear that. I love mine, too. My husband can no longer help me with the gardening and my little ladysaw is perfect for me. I cut down 31 small trees and trimmed back dozens of overgrown bushes. It gives me the independence I need and want. Those petrol powered chain saws are just too much for me, but I work all day with my ladysaw and two batteries. Saw on , Katie, saw on.

The large yellow diamond cable is to mark a submarine cable either electric or in this case telephone the marker is large so that boats are aware of the cable as the can be damaged by dragged anchors/moorings. there should be a matching marker at the other end of the crossing.

When I was a wee girl, my parents taught me to walk with my hands behind my back so I wouldn’t get my fingers into things they shouldn’t be in. It turns out, it’s a habit many in my Dads family do. My kids do it, and now my grandkids. They’ve never been taught to do so. The photography is superb, btw. Love the upgrade.

Oh my! You gave that little girlie saw a workout! I had to giggle, I have one, love it, but it is only good for branches up to about 2 inches (about 5 cm). If you want a chainsaw that is easier for women to handle, look at a "Gator". They have a short chainsaw blade but have a guard and they operate like scissors. Not as scary, hardly ever any kick back, fairly easy to handle. Though they "say" they are good for 4-inch branches, I have cut much bigger limbs with mine, doing one side at a time. Thank you for taking us on the castle tour, and for sharing your knowledge. It is amazing to think that all of those stones were laid and stacked by hand and are still standing. Just beautiful even in a ruined state.

Katie, you did a wonderful job of showing us around the castle remains. I, too, hope the people are allowed to restore it, if they remain persistent. It does seem pretty well preserved from what you showed us. It seems like it would be an asset to the island, rather than letting it perish.

I think Katie should keep the 'Lady Saw' as there may be jobs in the future which need doing that will take minutes with the battery saw but ages with a hand saw and chain saw can be a bit heavy duty in some cases. LET KATIE HAVE HER SAW!! 😅😅😅

Aww, loved seeing the wee ones following you both. Jeeves has really grown in confidence now. Katie I love your Lady saw, it will be ideal for you to do small jobs, you keep it never mind what Scott says (stop being a grump Scott 😂). It is so sad that these lovely buildings are just being left to rot away. I will never understand how these bureaucrats can make that sort of decision. Surely restoring not only the building but also the history is better than leaving to get in that state😢. Xx

Many insects are repelled by the scent of burning cedar. Instead of burning it inside and risking a creosote fire, why not save it for open fires outdoors near where you're working to be able to enjoy a (mostly) bug-free environment?

Cedar makes a great fire wood when you just want a quick hot fire to warm up the house on a cool spring morning or evening but not a full raging long burn. For a more efficient, battery free, non-scary wood processing saw you may want to look into a Japanese pull saw like a Silky Katana-Boy (hopefully available in the UK). Super efficient and not as much work as you'd think.
