This is a short film of a local hidden gem hidden in the Somerset countryside.
Woodspring Priory, or Worspring as it was known in the Middle Ages, was founded in or around the year 1210. It belonged to the Victorine order of Augustinian Canons, a French foundation of which the Abbey of St Augustine in Bristol was the leading representative in this country. The Augustinians differed from the great Benedictine monastic orders not only in the Rule by which their daily life was governed, but more particularly in that all its members were clerks who had taken Holy Orders, as against the simpler vows of a monk.
This short film was shot on a Mavic 2 pro drone and edited in Final Cut pro.

When I was in my senior year of high school (1982) I interviewed my father about his experience in WWII. I pulled the written interview out the other day and was reading it for the 1st time in many many years and he told me that his unit stayed for a time in Taunton, UK and in their free time, they would go up to Weston-super-Mare Beach. They typically had a two day leave so they would spend the night at the Woodspring Priory, just north of the beach. I decided to do a little research into his experiences and I found this video. I can only imagine what it was like for some young, American GI's stationed in another land during a world war, to find peace and solace in such a place. This is a beautiful video!!

Thankyou for that lovely comment, there is something magical about Woodspring Priory and lots of amazing historical happenings. I’m really glad found the video and it helped follow your fathers steps as a younger man.
