Gorgeous! You say this is way beyond anything you’ve done before but I don’t think anyone could tell by looking at the finished piece! 🙂

This is also very good work. You have built the bed very precisely and accurately. Everything is right down to the last mm (mm in Germany), inch, Watching you at work, it looks like you're a wood doctor. But I'm surprised that your workshop is so untidy. It's quite a mess there. Someone should tidy up your workshop. Well, but that's your problem. I'm just surprised. Nevertheless, as I've already written, the bed is really very nice. Many thanks for showing it.

Beautiful! I also want to say that I liked how you narrated this video. Some videos you ramble on and talk very very fast, so this one was very well done. Keep up the good work!

Enjoy your channel sir. I appreciate someone that works in a shop that was not financed by tool companies. I also, work with oak and black walnut as a rule.

Thanks, I'm not gonna lie it would be nice to get a tool sponsorship but I agree with you that I wouldn't want my whole shop to just be one brand! I think certain brands definitely do specific tools better than others and I'd always put that over getting a tool for "free".

There’s just something about the combination of walnut and oak that I love. Heck, Walnut and Cherry look great too! Are you happy with your jointer or do you see yourself upgrading some time? I actually don’t own a jointer and do all my boards by hand but I’m also not doing this everyday either.

If I could afford to build everything out of walnut I would, your can mix it with almost anything and it'll looks great! I love this jointer, honestly it's one of the few machines that I don't think I've every complained about. I will definitely upgrade someday, but only when I can afford a 12" helical. For 90% of the pieces I work with, this jointer helps get the job done super quick, then for those wider pieces the router works as a backup. If you have an extra $850, I'd highly recommend it, I really like being able to get the flattening/jointing done quickly!

A while ago I built a torsion box/sled (8' long, 12.5" wide, 3" tall) to joint long boards in the dw735 using the shimming approach. It worked ok but is an an unwieldy process that can snipe badly if the torsion box isn't perfectly supported, and shimming properly takes a while. This is inspiring me to turn the torsion box into a flattening jig. Curious if you went through the same evolution, and roughly how long it takes to flatten a board with this approach.

I've been using this router method since the beginning, I've only tried using a planer sled a couple times and always had the results you described. I'll use a planer sled on occasion, like if I need a board that is no longer than 24" but anything longer I always go to the router. As long as you have a decent 2-3hp router and buy a slab flattening bit that's around 2 inches wide, you can flatten boards in a matter of minutes. If I remember correctly these larger ones took about 10-15 minutes, but I was also cleaning up after each one and setting up the camera stuff so it probably could've been faster.

I see you’re using the same method as I am to help with the rikon bandsaw fence deflection. I even use the exact same magnetic feather board 😂.

It's super annoying, it took me so long to figure out why I was ripping pieces and they were coming out angled! It is funny that we both found the same solution!

@@morganhurst_redridge exactly because once power goes out u only have hand tools to work with and it's sad how woodshop took them out. Hard work pays off u will learn to appreciate what u made with your hands way better have a good day 👍👍
