Top favorite type of music. 80s and 90s music will also make me feel nostalgic even if I've never heard a certain song. I almost hate modern music that's not from Japan, a great cartoon or anime soundtrack, or video game music. Aside from that, old music is what my childhood was made of thanks to my Grandpa. It's all his fault. But I'm grateful. And happy that this is the music that makes me feel things. And not Cardi B blasting on loud speakers singing about stuff I never wanted to hear or needed to. No shame to those who like her though.. Bye now. Take care and keep vibing.

Japanese music ages really nicely. They respect classic jazz and rock way more than we Americans do. Modern J-pop still sounds like early 2000s rock and captures that awesome nostalgic sound. Hopefully it stays that way.

@@tommyl.dayandtherunaways820 Bro, you could not have explained better. I'm an avid Japanese music listener. I started by listening to anisongs, but then I found lots of non-anime bands that I truly enjoy. And I've also noticed their high quality of music compared to most other countries. I love it that even in Pop songs they always find ways to blend in actual instruments like guitars or jazzy instruments like the trumpet. That's why for this music get more and more nostalgic the older I get.

I am a 21-year-old Japanese. I only know Japan in recession. I'm not particularly troubled by poverty, but I have a strong admiration for Japan in the 1970s and 1980s. It's said that remembering Japan's 70's and 80's, which you shouldn't know, is called anemoia, but that is the same feeling for Japanese people. Just as people from overseas yearn for this era in Japan, I, who is a Japanese who doesn't know that era, also longs for it. I hope that you will continue to meet good quality City Pop and have a richer life. I'm sorry if it's unnatural English. P.S. (2/9/2022) Thank you for all the warm comments. I missed the timing, so I won't reply to each one, but I've read everything.

Hey I think your English here was perfect! I'm not the type of person to judge someone else based on their language but I think you did great writing this. Even though i wasn't born in this era, I completely understand your feeling. I hope you, as well as other people, have someone to listen to this with because this genre of music is a magical experience. Sorry for this entire mouth-full of non-sense, but I can't help to say it. I hope you and others have a fantastic day and have fun. Happy holidays!
