In today's video, I used my previously mixed modeling paste with acrylic paints and thickened it up with some plaster of paris! I didn't really like how my previous painting with these textures worked out, so I am trying to thicken the mixture and see how different consistencies work for this. This nice, thicker texture was much better and I am really happy with the shape and structure of the textured flowers. More to come of these!

I'm making fake wooden cakes and want to use modeling paste as fake whip cream swirls. I plan on adding it into a piping bag and then piping it on the cake's border. What brand and type of paste do you think would have the accurate consistency and also keep the shape of the swirls?

Liquitex and Golden both have thick modeling paste that would work well.

Thank you! I did not film mixing the paste, but there are a bunch of brands of paste that do not need any mixing, like Liquitex: amzn.to/3K7G2zr or Golden: amzn.to/3ZDFXZW

You can try it but I found that joint compound was not thick enough for me.

Liquidtex and Golden both make molding paste. I use the Liquitex.

I saw your videos on making petals and you commented that you make your own paste and recommended Modeling Paste My question is, is wall putty or what is called Sparkle used in this art? If your answer is yes...does it need to add glue or something similar? Thank you very much

I use modeling past and also spackle. Spackle can be bought at home improvement stores and modeling paste is more of an art item at art stores. I do not add anything like glue to it.

I didn't wait but you could wait a day for the first layer to dry.

Nope you can use modeling paste too. I just used whatever I have on hand.
