Ash adopted Koko about 10 years ago from a friend who adopted him from a centre. He was being abused by his previous owner with a pen. Koko was born in 1940 which makes him 83 years old as of 2023. When he went home, Koko was scared and was aggressive towards Ash. But after a while he slowly started to warm up to his new family. Koko now lives an amazing life, still proving that age is just a number.

Yeah, galapagos Island tortoises grazing on the lawn openly at Melbourne Zoo. Gorgeous. Birds are quite difficult to keep in optimal health for 80years. That birb was very lucky to survive the abuse he endured.

a crocodile of more than 65 years old , the local authorities & villagers confirmed it because of his tail which was marked by certain incisions from very young age and they will not grow back they called him (old one in the water)

My dead sister's dog is 17 years old and my dog is 15. Two dogs I've had in the past lived to be 16 years old. So I guess they are the oldest animals I've ever met. Beautiful parrot. Happy trails to you and God bless.

A lot of people are completely unprepared for how unnaturally loud birds are. They have no idea how it is going to impact their day to day lives. I think my bird is relatively quiet compared to many others and it is still a challenge. This combined with the belief that animals are "less than" humans could make someone harm them. It sickens me too but there's your explanation. I also hate that people think birds are easier to care for or a good starter pet for kids because they are smaller than cats or dogs. Birds are much harder to care for than cat or dogs when you are caring for them properly. I still think we have a culture that values humans above all then cats and dogs and then other animals.

@@susank2019 I remember my Aunt & Uncle had a large parrot, it was surprisingly very noisy. You could say something in one room, and the parrot would respond in another. I was very little when they had him, but he was a very sweet natured bird.

@@susank2019 I agree with all of this, but I'd also add teh biting. A pen isn't something big to hit a bird with, my guess would be that came about because of a fear of being bitten if putting a hand near the bird & thinking it could be taught not to bite by being smacked with the pen, much like some smack a child to teach it not to do undesired behaviours btw, if you haven't already figured it out, you can use bird videos to manage the noise, not stop it, but control what time of day it occurs at. That's what I do with mine, cause they're time shifted to fit with me, but I can't have them squawking after my elderly neighbour has gone to bed at night, so we do morning screams to the wild birds or video birds so that we'll be nice & quiet in the evenings :)

Very happy he is now in a loving home I always said if you can't offer love to an animal, and expect to spend lots of money and time on them, don't. Let someone else adopt them, especially birds. These guys live forever and need someone ready to care for them througg old age, health issues, etc. Thank you very much to this beautiful couple for rescuing koko, having his eye removed so now he can be the energetic. Happy, health bird that he is 🥰🦜💚

Large parrots live a very long time. Some live to be over 100 years. Charley the Blue and Gold macaw is 120 years old.

Colloidal silver eye drops and putting colloidal silver in the bird’s water bowl would’ve likely helped get rid of any infections and saved the eye. It’s available at any natural health food store or you can even make your own.

We need a national registry for people who abuse animals, and a map of them so we can see who is an abuser who lives near us. This way they can never own an animal again and they can be rightfully ostracized and shunned by the larger community for being a cruel, trash person.

Wow he reminds me of the sweet, elderly cockatiel we adopted from the Humane Society, who was missing an eye when he was found, he had almost died from being left in a shoe box in the cold all night. 😢🤬 But he recovered, and he got stronger and happier week by week, he just needed a family who loves him ❤️🦜 There are so many different kinds of animals who need a family, if you have the ability to adopt one and give him or her a loving home, please do! ❤️🦜🐶😺🐇🐭

Parrots and Cockatoos are very intelligent and make wonderful pets. But, I think it is cruel to cage any bird. They need to be in their own environment.

There is so much abuse all over. Monsters call humans they deserve the worst punishment. But nobody that's anything about it. Put them in jail. I had similar with my boy, came with a glove & told he bites & is a horrible bird, get him proper medical care & medication for his arthritis pain & guess what? No more biting & he becomes a beautiful tempered bird. Mine still has a lot of emotional issues from his life of abuse, but the pain relief certainly makes a HUGE difference to his personality & also to his relationship with his girl, who used to be scared of him because of his constant pain related tantrums, now he's totally henpecked & dominated by her lol

Very upsetting to hear Koko was being beaten and stabbed by someone, and am sure that was part of this eye injury and problem. Birds are not a good companion fit for most people for a huge number of reasons, and the birds end up being neglected or abused by humans because humans acquire them expecting dog or cat behavior. It's ridiculous! Glad this couple adopted Koko and this senior bird got the medical care he needed, has an affectionate sibling, and great guardians. He deserves a safe and loving home 🏡 🦜

A one eyed pirate parrot ha,ha. Thank you for adopting him and taking care of his eye. Most people would have lacked the courage to adopt a 83 year old bird. Most would lack the courage to have the eye removed. Many would say he's old anyway and probably not worth to bother and spend money. Taht's why export laws from Australia are so strict! You'll notice that Aussie birds aren't actually that common in other countries (other than budgies & cockatiels), if people want Aussie species, they compromise & find ones also found in Indonesia, cause it's easier to get them. Birds are much better off kept in the wild! Such a shame tht more cities don't build to be bird friendly, so that people can enjoy wild birds visiting their homes each day, instead of having to breed & cage them to experience that

The lifespan of large parrots like cockatoos,Amazons,macaws,African Greys,eclectus etc. is similar to that of humans. They can live a very long time and in many cases will outlive their human companions. You need to put them in your will and arrange for their future care and guardianship. 🦜

A tiny soul,83 years old,outlived many humans ,Divine's laws do not discriminate when it comes to all His creations. Difficult to understand brutality,cruelty to any life,humans or animals. We can be certain there are the most caring,loving and compassionate souls in this world,to which we appreciate,acknowledge and love them all.

mine is 68 and looks just like yours.. some kind of Amazon.. hes a rescue. My parents owned a pet store at the time.. we got him at 40, his previous owners husband didnt like him and pysically abused the bird so the wife brought him to our pet store and juat left him there after explaining everything.. hes a sweet boy and loves his life im happy to see yours is 84 i hope mine live that long and longer they are amazing companions ❤

Not for amazons. They live way past your conservative number of 60. large Parrots in general have very long lifespans in captivity when well cared for.

There is no proof he is this old. Amazon parrots rarely live beyond the 30s, even with proper care, and there is no confirmed Amazon parrot beyond the age of 66. They just heard he's that old and keep repeating it. I don't like people spreading misinformation, which is what they are doing.
