in this video number {834} Boost Converter Topology Theory and Practical. what is boost converter and how it works as PFC power factor correction circuit in power supplies. A Boost converter steps up an input voltage to a higher output voltage level. A boost converter, can only produce a higher output average voltage than the input voltage. In a boost converter, an inductor (L) is placed in series with the input voltage source VIN. The input source feeds the output through the inductor and the diode. In the steady state of operation, when the switch Q1 is ON for a period of TON, the input provides energy to the inductor. During the T-ON period, inductor current flows through the switch and the input voltage VIN is applied to the inductor in the forward direction. Therefore, the inductor current rises linearly from its present value During this TON period, the output load current IOUT is supplied from the output capacitor CO. The output capacitor value should be large enough to
supply the load current for the time period TON with the minimum specified droop in the output voltage. During the TOFF period when the switch is OFF, the inductor current continues to flow in the same direction as the stored energy with the inductor, and the input source VIN supplies energy to the load. The diode D1 completes the inductor current path through the output
capacitor during the Q1 OFF period (TOFF). During this TOFF period, the inductor current flows through the diode and the difference of voltages between VIN and VOUT is applied to the inductor in the reverse direction,
Therefore, the inductor current decreases from the present value IL2 to IL1.

Dear Mr. Haseeb. I am from Sri lanka.I respect and gratitude for you, because you have done very valuable and superb tremendous service to the electronic field.Your endeavor is very very successful.I also have attempted to design boost converters, but i was unable to get regulated output voltage. In (no-load) condition, it was success. But it couldn't drive the load.(output voltage became zero level when load is connected).I hope your further clarification about this matter and calculations and design explanation about boost-converters in future videos. Thank You.

Thank you master wonderful i have question how buck converter decrease voltage i mean in what sinario(just by decreasing duty cycle?) and there is lost power ?where does this lost power go if yes

best regards noo there is no power loss. the transistor will turn on and will allow to pass sampled pulse for specified time, so it appears on load current. so the coil will not dissipate heat, it will convert it to magnetic energy. which is being used in off time. when the switch is off. it will behave as open circuit there are very minor switching losses (diode, transistor etc) but these are negligible
