I never understood why people painted the Gold Demos red. They were unique in their gold clothes. Absolutely awesome! I love the 1456 anyway, and when they're a gold demonstrator they're priceless.

By far my favorite tractor ever made. When I was a kid I lived next to a farm. The farmer had a IH and I used to go outside and climb a tree and watch the tractor (I was scared of it but intrigued by it lol)

Nice find. The 56 series tractors are my favorite. My neighbor has two 1456's. One is an open station and the other one has a cab. He has a 1256 with a cab too. He still farms with them. I like the open station the best. That 6030 was super sweet too!

Having double cables ensures a minimal voltage drop. The further away the batteries are from the starter the higher the drop. It can prevent premature starter failure and really helps crank speed in colder temperatures.

Awesome find. As far as the paint if you want it gold you will probably have to strip it and paint it. The 2nd coat of red paint looks like you might get it off, but the 1st coat looks like it is bonded pretty well. Sanding will probably burn through the gold paint. That's a neat old tractor, just a shame someone cut the axles off.

You have gotten your dream tractor and the orbital pump started working on the steering after the clean oil came in after frantic turning on the steering. Everything is great except the rear axels which were cut off with a torch so as to be easier to feed cattle. I like the colors better as they are except for new paint. I would be willing to bet the air con still works. Haven't really heard of the Plainsman air con but if she works it's good.
