National Team member Brandon Xuereb sets out to prove just how much skill and technique matter over price of equipment.

Great honest comparison. Suggestion for another test, set up or borrow a different $4,000 bow you haven't used before so both bows are new to you.

This sort of comparison is very helpful. May I suggest another round of comparisons where you have a fairly new archer, an intermediate and an experienced archers using the bows with the same arrows being used for all shots? That way, you isolate the test to the bows and get a feel for how various experience levels perform.

I think if you have enough money and have intermediate until high quality technique you need to buy high end plunger and sight cause you won't replace them, they will last forever. Beiter plunger is a really good investment

I built some Avalon Tec One Arrows for a friend. Maximum weight difference in one dozen shafts was 2 grains, max. spine difference 2 lbs. Maybe i was lucky or they are amazing quality for the price. He is shooting this arrows for two years now and they're great! Why spend more money?

I think you should use spider vanes on the tec one arrows. I have found out spider vanes more forgiving and accurate than the spin wings

I'd love to see one of these comparisons taken further, what about entry level "shop" equipment (wood riser, plastic 6" sight, cheap leather tab), low level entry level (6" metal sight, glass in limbs, only a long-rod), then the other two bows shown.

@@wanr5701 because in the case of the triple trouble vid, the humiliation would be even greater. In this case, I'm pretty sure the results would have been a draw, if they used identical arrows. Let's just say it as it is: a 650$ riser has nothing, absolutely nothing more to offer compared to a 250$ riser. Same goes for the limbs. It's nothing more than a marketing trick. Soon, the market will be flooded with decent chinese B-brand risers and limbs. All it takes is one archer that can't be bought with bling bling free stuff and the world will see that you can grab a championship medal with a 700$ bow.

Hello all! Awesome video! Maybe someone in the comments might help answer my question. I've been shooting a Samic Sage for a while, and was thinking of moving up in the recurve world. I was thinking something Olympic style, but there isn't much guidance I can find regarding the mid-range of bows. Certainly the known brands are recommended, but as a relatively new person in Olympic archery I'm a little lost. Is there anyone who could help me?

In this video i've know standard score in recurve 70m is 320. In my country, Indonesia, at national championship 2018, best score is 330. How about canada, netherland, or some?

Hey! We did think of incorporating the same arrows for both bows, but for the purpose of this video I wanted to ensure that the inexpensive setup accurately represented what an intro to intermediate competitive archer would use. @tripletroublearchey did a great comparison with old equipment using x10 arrows! We're definitely looking into other ways we can manipulate variables and see the result :D

It's a great idea! One that we'll definitely consider for the future. The idea behind this video was to compare full setups for entry level/intermediate archers who are just getting into competition and don't want to break the bank. This would include arrows that are in the same budget range. That being said, we hope to test out different arrows so we'll be making a few videos on that in the near future!

Sanlida A7 or miracle X10 riser is solid and stift, have one

I (and my childs) use 3 sanlida miracle forged risers, which are produced before X10‘s , maybe the changed a sticker, arms are X8 wood-fiber 24, 32 and 38 lbs, kinetic bamboo are ordered. Good video but too different arrows.

Hey! That would've been a great idea, but unfortunately the limbs aren't compatible. One is a formula bow which only takes formula style limbs. If I used a w&w bow, I would've for sure tried it! Might be good for a future video :D

Estoy tirando con un arco compuesto de 250 euros mas complementos en total unos 650 euros y los compañeros "pros" con sus arcos de 2 y 3.000 euros hacen tiradas que no envidio en absoluto. Mas vale buen arquero que arco caro.

If you want to compare the bows you have to shoot with the same arrows. X-10 and intermediate and arrows will make all the deffrence which would make the comparison of the bows meaningless.

Nice job comparing apples to oranges. 1) Different arrows. Not just different spines, but different makers. It would have been nice to stay with the same brand/model of arrow for consistency sake. 2) The only way to compare the accuracy of the bows is with a shooting machine. Otherwise personal bias can and probably will be a factor. I am very impressed that you got comparable results for the most part though even with these discrepancies. The moral of the story is that you can hand a high level shooter a low level bow and they will shoot very well with it. However, if you had a lower level shooter a high level bow, it probably won't help them. In my experience, most modern bows will out shoot even the pros when you compare the pro to a shooting machine. It comes down to what you are most comfortable shooting.
