86 F150 true X Pipe exhaust - 302 F303 GT40

Build details below - 1986 F150 with a 302. Wanted more of a Mustang sound so I fabbed up a true X pipe exhaust. Most of the clips don't do justice. Sounds almost the same at idle but definitely sounds more like a mustang or muscle car while driving and reving.

Sounds good. If you placed the X more central, giving each side equal of pipe before the X, it gives it a better tone.

Agreed but nearly impossible to do on this chassis with how the transfer case and cross members are located.

@@ivanruiz2046 You may be able to do a "trombone" pipe (basically a 360⁰ loop) like what guys with raptors do. I know the BW1356 makes it pretty tight.

I got a 86 single cab long bed with a 302 I’ve had less than a month I’ve been working on, but your truck is a f***ing beauty my man! Sounds like good p***y on pay day.

What model number are the headers? And did you have any clearance issues with the front driveshaft.

Don't know the part number of the headers. They are Flotech headers designed for this truck. No clearance issues with the driveshaft.

Thanks man! If you want functionality don't do the F cam. This thing struggles down low and when towing but if you want something that turns heads and people constantly doubting it's just a little 302, then this is the cam for you.

Where did you buy 2.5" exhaust from with x-pipe? I am in the process of rebuilding my grandpas 86 F150. In the process of gathering parts to rebuild engine and delete smog system. Going long tube header route

It's a universal exhaust kit and a generic 2.5" x-pipe i got off amazon and had to chop it and make it work.

What trans you running? And did you convert to carb from efi to bypass the speed density so you could run that cam?

Tremec T170 and i converted to carb long before the cam swap just to simplify the truck but it definitely made the cam swap tuning very easy

What year 303 cam do you have?

It's the original Ford Performance F303 cam not the new "303 plus" or whatever it's called. Part number M-6250-F303

Not any time soon, if i did. It's a faily simple engine combination though. Would be simple for you to build this exact combo.

0:01 is the X pipe. Y pipe is what it had on originally that you see me cut off
