To video99couk i unwind by hand then I use the cleaning machines. I have had over 200+ hi8 ,8mm,digital 8, vhsc,mini dv, vhs that have all glued together and had no problem unsticking them without snapping them and some have been very bad john

That is brilliant..i have many damged hi8 tapes here in Adelaide , Australia...this device looks the business.. why only 70% alcohol? Cheers

If the tapes are weakened by the mold, it will tear or form a double fold on the reel that can the tape itself and worse, damage your heads. They are not salvable.(hi8)

You can build one of these pretty simply with a mini dc motor/switch/speed controller set from Amazon. I've made a few for cleaning vhs for about £10

@@MastaSergeantShelly No, ma’am, but I have since taught myself how to do it. I offer it as a service as well. I am located in the south east US. I can also recommend a company on the west coast that I have used before.

This is a real long stretch but while Google - ing 8mm video cleaning services your KZfaq clip came up - looks great. The only catch is I am in Australia and seeking someone who can cleaning some mouldy 8mm video tapes. Would you be interested please?
