19世纪中开始发展的克拉码头，不仅是潮州籍新客的落脚地，也是生鲜与南北货的贸易、批发集散中心。上游的罗拔申码头区域支流蜿蜒，遍布货仓与驳船修理厂，日久导致河流污染。 1970年代集装箱货轮普及，加上清河运动，迫使驳船在1983年全面退出新加坡河。百多年转口贸易中枢的荣景不再，转型成为观光消闲胜地。节目访问1959年抵新的最后过番客、从事土产九八行的后代、见证驳船沉没的造船技师等人，诉说新加坡河从繁华走向衰落、继而重生的过程。

70年代在柴船头听老者说潮州故事一柱香两角钱…当时我还小甭钱…老者很高兴说我小孩也听他说故事…🤓🤓但！不知说什麽？只是爱听其说故事之表情与动作！👍👍👍

小时第一份工是在柴船头附近…是一边🈶梯階的岸边…对面是苦力以跳板上下货的…哪是打🐟丸工…老板与家人都很好…现在还不时怀想老板以前的好…🙂🙂

This area used to be our playground having born In Ellenborough Street.. along the majestic Singapore River.

So sad. The bum boats and the warehouses were my playground. I was raised at Puala Saigon till 8 years old. I moved away, but always missed this place. Remember watching the national day fireworks sitting on the bridge at Puala Saigon. I also lived at “wood boat front” for a year. Even it’s a short year, but I also have lots of memories. Remember hearing that all residents have to move away. Was only 8, so I don’t understand. I am not sure about the bridge name because I left Singapore since 1989. And have not been back. In my memory, Singapore freeze at 1989.

I was in Singapore in1978 and it was obvious that it was going to hit the big time. The skyscape was dominated by the HSBC, Standard Chartered and the OCBC buildings and Victorian buildings were torn down wholesale.

I was told by my mother-in-law who lived in that area, one place along the Singapore River ppl would gather in the evening to hear to story telling. They use a joystick to control the time. She used to house her relatives who arrived from China n they will move out when they found a job n find a place for living

No!, it is 'Economy 1965' agreed for 55 years for the 'cinaporeans' to earn money from 'buying & selling' Malaysian produce and product. This agreement ends in the year 2020 which stands with reflection for 'a perfect vision' or Wawasan 2020. Whom and whose to be blamed for COVID-19 of the 20th Century?

Simple arithmatic: add the year 1965 + 55 years(agreed)= 2020(expiry year). The song, 'Blame it on the Bossa Nova' with the dancing spells...
