You need firefighters to tell the detailed story of the companies. There is more detail to Ladder 3 activities that day.

Thanks for uploading that. We visited the Museum last may and saw the truck but never knew the full story.

If you listen to the Manhattan dispatch audio from that day, a few minutes after the first plane hits, 3 Truck (I assume Captain Brown) calls the dispatch and says something like "Yeah, we're getting multiple people coming in telling us about this, we can see this from over here, you want us to take this in or you want us to stand fast?" The dispatcher says "Take it in." And off they went. I don't think they were initially assigned on the second alarm that Battalion Chief Pfeiffer (Battalion 1) initially called in, which you can see on the Naudet 9/11 documentary, they were probably on the third alarm response. RIP the brave men of 3 Truck "Recon."

I'm pretty sure they along with Rescue1 and Squad 18 climbed the highest in the North Tower of any fire units. They were the only ones to make it past the 50th floor

Besides those units squad 252 also climb passed the 50th floor

Rescue 1 firefighters were trapped on the 83rd floor, one of them (Capt Terry Hatton) broadcast several maydays on the radio minutes before the collapse, one of the maydays was heard by the other companies, Squad 252 and Ladder 3 were on the stairs from the north tower, they heard the call and radioed the command post that they were going to go up to help them, it was their last transmission before dying in the collapse As for Squad 18, they were already outside the building, they had left after the collapse of the south tower, however, upon hearing the mayday of Rescue 1, they went back in to try to go up and assist them, unfortunately they also died in the collapse

in fact, in Mark Laganga's film, the firefighters of Squad 18 are seen around the north tower getting ready to re-enter the tower

Ladder 3 was one of the first ones on the scene, so I'm sure they made it pretty high, just wonder why they didn't try to get out after the first tower came down.

Paddy Brown was originally in charge of Rescue 1

yeah, in fact the last thing that was heard from Paddy Brown and his company was that they were going up to the 83rd floor to help the Rescue 1 firefighters who were trapped in that floor

That isn't Truck 3. That's Truck 10 of "Ten House" and was and still is stationed with Engine 10

@@Bald_Cat2007 No, he's right, it's Ladder 3. You can see the "3" on the side, it's parked close to Rescue 1. I can only assume the North Tower collapse crushed the cab and the video was taken after the South Tower collapsed but before the North Tower.
