DragonmumLes Cat Herder this is not a “raging tropical cyclone “. We ( I am a Houstonian) have been getting feeder bands from Beta. It is a rain event for us, as was Harvey, but we are not at the level of Harvey. Second to Harvey, the most flooding we’ve had was from TS Allison. She parked over us for days and rained.

Causes of flooding: 1. Not much water infiltration, I see a lot of concrete around the house. 2. Developers should pay attention to whether the drainage is sufficient to accommodate if it rains heavily. 3. The waterways around the main road are clogged because there are lots of leftover leaves and tree branches in the hole. 4. Clean the river every 2x a year. 5. Always plant trees around you, not until the land is empty. 6. Renew the river to a depth of 2 meters and a width of 3 meters. 7. Change the water channel is bigger. After we have done these 5 points, praise the God of the environment there will be no more floods. Greetings from Virginia.

jrbland...there aren't enough police officers in the Houston metro area to block all the roads which have the potential to flood. Further, how do the authorities know which roads are going to flood ? In Harvey in 2017 51 inches of rain fell in the Houston area. In Imelda in 2019 street flooded which did not flood during Harvey. There are no guarantees...people need to take personal responsibility for the actions.

There is an old cliche that goes something like “turn around, don’t drown” that applies to your expensive pickup truck as well. Part of Houston’s problem is land subsidence as they withdraw ground water in that area, land surface sinks and thus water cannot drain out as well as it did probably 40 years ago.

Got news for you, they get those cars moved across the country, retitled and other slick trickster crap and carfax misses tons of scamage completely because the clouded trail of documentation is tricked because every state is different and nothing is standardized across states. Those cars should always be salvage only and useable parts recycled prior to auction or some sort of setup like that due to scam salvage yards buying at auctions or the consumer will never know and Carfax just can’t track that like you would think. I think some tv show investigation like 20/20 did a several episode show on how the vin numbers are clouded somehow when they transport those flood total cars to the other end of the country

I live in Houston and...all the areas that are flooding are prone to flooding or flood pretty regularly, the fact that people are still trying to drive through the water is infuriating.

@drfb7012
@drfb7012 3 жыл бұрын
Well this how it happens. You are driving along till you get to a point on the road that is flooded but you see other cars passing successfully. You decide if these suckers can do it, i can also. Then you unfortunately pick the wrong spot and before you know it you are in panic mode once you feel the car is going to be swept and you quickly bail out. Some can be fraud but some are real.

I don't see a lot of street lights, sometimes you hit water before you know what happens. The majority of Houston's outer streets are in low areas.
