I've never been able to "see" the butterfly pattern that is called that for. Just a shadow under the nose is all I see but it doesn't look like a butterfly to me! Ha! Great video once again.

plan on using a eye lighter for my headshots as fill. Not sure I like it though, not as much control, but it frees up a light. Nice video!

I bought a full size mannequin from Amazon for under $70. Also a blonde and brunette wig for hair light practice. Cool thing, her eyes show catch lights. Also, butterfly lighting gets its name for the shadow the nose casts. They claim it has a butterfly shape. Not sure I see it. Great video Matt. Thanks.

doing some banner shots in a few days. I don’t think I want anything too dramatic for that. Thinking about doing a four light x pattern with a key, a fill, and two edge lights. You think this could work?

Thanks for this. I think using the mannequin is a great Idea to hone lighting skills, eventually saving time on a real job. I was looking over your gear list, but you make no mention of the C-Stands you are using. Would you be kind enough to let us know and do you recommend them or something else?
