I know it's hard to believe but for many years, I was a Diesel Mechanic/ Natural Gas Engine Mechanic for a company that was a Waukesha Engine Dealer, we had a model of engine that was a Natural Gas Convertion of that exact model Sulzer, but they only produce it in 3 configuration inline 8 cylinder, 12V and a 16V versions. WAUKESHA ENGINE Co. Bought the Patten to those models and produced the Inline 8 in both #6 Diesel H.F.O., and A Gas Version. The 12V, and 16V only in Natural Gas, Iam Factory Certified, and overhauled both of the 16V's twice!! They were Land based Generators, 3 Mega Watts each! They belong to Tampa Electric Company & The city Of Tampa Florida.

You are correct, the vessel was re-flagged to US registry about 6 years ago.

In my years of sailing & working on generators shoreside, I have never encountered issues with filming equipment and generators. It is hard to judge sound over phone recorded video since they automatically try to be "noise cancelling" I think the sound level is worse/equal to the EMD locomotives I have worked on. These engines are smaller than the EMD engines as well.

@@FixAndForget Good point -- not safe to assume that the level of noise cancellation on the cameras used to record locomotive engines and the one used here are the same.

Thanks for watching! What type of ship? Disconnect hydraulic/electric governor from fuel rack and actuate rack by hand. There is likely a bind in the fuel rack. Isolate each jerk pump or rack bushing until you find the issue. If there is a problem with the mechanical governor it must be removed and serviced.

Thanks for watching! I was working on a e7 not too long ago. For just normal cruising at sea, one generator is online. When using the bow thruster or more than one cargo crane, two gens are paralleled. The 3rd generator could also be put on the bus but there would not be a reason to have all 3 online, so at least one is kept on standby at all times.

Bad seals in fuel injection pumps leak into gravity lube oil drains, back into crankcase sump. Thanks for watching! Leaking fuel injectors or lines inside valve covers may also cause fuel in oil.

Thanks for watching! It certainly does look tired however, all three were freshly rebuilt 3 months before this was made. Hence why they run with such a clean burn and no smoke.
