This guy knows what he's talking about but he's no presenter 🤣 You gotta be pretty specific about what you're looking for to find this video comprehensible. I'm glad I knew that a lower port requires digging out on the whiteboard b/c that, like many other things, wasn't explained. I mean, transitions man. There's not a bubble over your head!

Yeah... I had to watch it a few times just to get what he was "trying" to say... he jumped back and forth too much, too fast... Should've had both degrees on the board in a cutaway... he knows what he's talking about, but do we know what he's talking about???

If it wasn’t for the product speaking for itself. I assume that’s why he is presenting this he don’t have to be good when his product is this good.

Sadly, Richard Maskin is no longer with us. However, the company he built, Dart Machinery, is still going strong.

And this is why chevy boys wanted to ban the Cleveland in their small block classes. Cleveland stock valve ange is 9.5 degrees with a 4 degree cant. Lol I have actually had BBC guys try to tell me my 4.380 bore spaced Cleveland is actually a Big Block just because of my heads. BBC guys hate when a 359 Cleveland beats their big iron hahahahaha

Way back in the 1960s when GM engineers began designing the “Mystery” big-block 427 that would eventually evolve into the Mark IV 396/427/454, cylinder head port designers realized that if they tipped or canted the valves at an angle from off-center, the intake flow improved. This created the canted valve head design that made the big-block Chevy famous. This is also the concept that Ford engineers integrated into the Cleveland head design that became famous (or infamous) with the Boss 302 head. The Cleveland and Boss 302 engines may be considered infamous because of their huge port cross-sectional areas. But the concept of the canted valve has not been lost on cylinder head designers. The idea is to cant or tip the valve toward the center of the cylinder bore, which means the valve moves away from the cylinder wall as it opens, unshrouding the air path to move more efficiently around the valve. This not only creates a more efficient air path, but it also allows the engine builder to use a larger intake valve within the same bore size.
