First of all Elegance for me is not an item it’s how you carry yourself!

I think elegance does not equate to “not everyone has it” nor does it mean that if a lot of people have it, it’s not elegant anymore. Elegance is the whole package, the styling, the attitude and the aura/composure of a person. Maybe from your picks, i would have to agree that these are trendy/dated/casual versus more sophisticated/polished bags. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

To me, elegance is the way you act. Elegance is not in accessories. It’s not the way you look, but the way you carry yourself. Of course some clothes, bags, shoes and jewelry will make you look more elegant than others, but it doesn’t make you more or less elegant. Just my opinion 🥰

Not every "elegant / classy" bag is beautiful, just like not every "trendy/ edgy" bag is ugly. I personally prefer the variety for a different occasions and situations.

Assuming we’re only talking about the bag itself and not how it is styled, here are my thoughts: Personally, I don’t find any bag with a large logo elegant including the YSL bags. I sold my only ysl bag because I just didn’t like the large logo. Imo, it’s very in your face. For this same reason, I prefer the reissue to the classic flap. It is such an elegant bag that would not look out of place anywhere and on a woman of any age. I also think most top handle bags are elegant. I especially like the Alma bb with its curved, elegant edges in the epi leather.

I think when it comes to luxury bags, it needs to be all about which bags make you happy and give you that good feeling. Who cares if someone else doesn’t think it’s elegant or if others have it? I live in a province with no LV store and you never see any of the bags here so everyrhing I have stands out.

This is a great video. I know what you mean when it comes to “elegance”. I think some bags are just more fitting for some occasions and others are not. For example- I saw a family member wearing a canvas LV to a wedding. That bag just took away from her beautiful dress. I think just bc it’s a “luxury bag” doesn’t automatically make it appropriate for all occasions. Just my humble opinion. Love that you have alternatives. Thank you for all the great ideas.

Hurt my feelings on the Pochette Métis 🤣 - I just got my hands on a new one and I love it so much! I don’t consider it for dressy occasions but it is an amazing bag. I live in an area that doesn’t have designer stores so you don’t see this bag very often.

I have the Lv empreinte bumbag in noir. I have used it as my evening out bag. It was a wonderful change from my normal clutch.

I actually get you... but you know what, I've seen people wear the NF but they look so classy and I can't pull it off. Lol! I have an Alma BB, so if I wanted to be classy, this is my first choice. I'm planning of getting the ysl sunset bag in the future. It will look so classy with a white shirt and jeans!

I think that LV monogram bags aren't elegant in general... To me canvas is casual, period. But nothing wrong with that, it's a good reasom to have an extensive bag collection 😉

🤔 I’ve got 2 of the bags mentioned here not elegant. But I love them to the moon and back 😄 yes they might be not an it bag at the moment, but they were once and who knows it’ll come back ie Dior saddle bag. I think elegance is also not just the type of bag but also how it’s carried and what are the outfits for the occasion. As most of those “elegant” bags can also be worn with jeans and shirt. Anyways, probably the versatility makes it different like the cappucine or sunset can be worn in a wedding. But not the city bag!

I definitely get it! Personally i don't think many items in LV canvas look elegant. I have a few items in canvas because of work. But my going out bags are all empreinte or epi. Even for going out casual like the movies i still wear a leather bag. Canvas though is so care free and easy to clean for someone like me thats a hairdresser always with color around.

This is why I sold my Neverfull twice!!! I got it in 2009 and then 2021… I sold it after I did a “Neverfull counting experiment at the airport for 1 hour”… And I counted 30!!!! 30 Neverfull in an hour!!! It doesn’t matter if they’re real or not, I saw 30 people carrying the same bag as I have! I can’t shake it off… I put it on sale the next day and was sold within 24hrs. I’ll never buy another Neverfull. For the price you pay for it, you want a little bit of exclusivity and you’ll never get that from LV Neverfull.

Agree with most choices! I always say, I will never own a bumbag or a Neverfull. Simply not attracted to those styles.

I definitely see your thought process on each selection except for the studded YSL. If you don't like the Valentino rock stud bag, the studded toy lulu is worse in my opinion.

Every bag is not suppose to be elegant it depends on what you are wearing. I would use my on the go reverse monogram and my on the go in empriente leather for everyday. I have two on the gos and I would never wear them when I was trying to look elegant. An elegant style bag would be my Coussin bag in black lambskin. I disagree with you on the Rockstud bag. The well dressed woman has different bags for whatever the occasion is.

I actually like this video bc it provides me with trendy/casual/street-style versions of elegant bags hahaha. It's nice to have a bag to fit with my sweats for when i go shopping 😅

Ysl is my favorite brand for classic bags bc the prices and quality. They are they only brand that i like all the bags. Bottega Venetta Cassette chain bag is a trendy bag and that's litterly the only trendy bag i like.

I'm so tired of youtubers gassing up a bag just to turn around a year later to trash it and say it isn't elegant or it's tacky or played out. I know that content is difficult to keep up with but it ruins your credibility when you are so inconsistent. All of these bags are thousands of dollars so who cares what anyone has to say about it.

I also think that Dolce e Gabbana sicily bag is underrated, I actually own 2 sicily bags and they are amazing. Theyre not flashy and full of logos and at the same time people would still recognize the brand. I mean if you know you know. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am very casual. I don’t like to dress up. Sometimes the bag dresses you I feel. I love being in tees and joggers. Yes neverfulls , speedy 25s bandolier, pochette Métis, bumbags, Marmonts, and camera bags. It fit my style. Ysl niki bag. I understand what you mean. I rather buy 2 neverfull than one on the go. On the go is dressier. Sometimes I feel it’s your lifestyle buy bags that fits your wardrobe. My antigona small just sitting in my closet. I keep looking at it I feel it’s more elegant. I think I will sell it. But I see stars in joggers with their Chanel bags.

I feel like to be elegant I have to be boring to some extent, I rather wear whatever I want especially at luxury prices 😘😉.

Steph you have a very good point of view regarding the elegant bags I agree with you with all the bags except LV multi poch. as I remove the circle coin and I hold as crossbody it’s so beautiful with jeans and white shirt and white scarf on hair .other all bags you are absolutely right you have elegant eye view 👍and I will take your advice if I will buy a bag thanks a lot and appreciate your lovely videos👍😊

I agree, I personally wouldn’t carry any of these handbags to an elegant or classy event. But if one decides to, you better rock it! On another note, only a person that lacks class or elegance would be bothered by another person’s handbag. And the Cappucines is such a lovely bag. Your have a stunning collection.

I think many of the comments posted already kind of cover of this but I think elegant and classy are just too subjective in terms of bag choice. I love my ysl bags but get comments on these not being classy because it's basically just advertising for a brand and have been told to consider bags from Celine. Bag beauty (or elegance ) is in the eye of the beholder I think.

I personally don’t like Louis Vuitton, their designs are too trendy, I do like the canvas in a way but it’s hard to find a bag that is LV that doesn’t look too trendy… I recently purchased a Dolce and Gabbana small sicily and it’s so pretty and elegant, not a lot of people have them and they come in tons of colors, while it doesn’t have a nice resell value I personally don’t care because I buy bags to wear in the long run, that bag has become my new classic.

I removed the tassels off of my City Bag as soon as I got it

The thumb rule is these bags are to use for errands, for work and airport travel. Wealthy and celebs never wear these to an event or on red carpet. Logo = common and ordinary if you don't use them at a right place and purpose instead of simply to show off💕

I totally get what u mean. it is understated elegance to have minimal logo or less popular or less costly. so hermes although it doesn't have a big logo, it can be vulgar because it is so expensive that people view it as a status symbol and a show off and not elegance anymore. especially those in crocodile leather as it is also animal cruelty and unnecessary. why some may say cow hide is also animal but a cow can make more bags than 1 crocodile 😆? I dunno but I have an aversion to crocodile bags.

The one thing that’s unique about the Pochette Métis and the Bumbag is that they function as unisex pieces, so the “elegant” alternatives wouldn’t really work well for a man, unfortunately, lol..

Love this video topic, Steph. I tend to keep 2-3 day bags at a time. One work satchel, one casual crossbody, and a travel/beach tote. Along with these, I have a small collection of evening bags which have been inherited or gifted in colors and patterns. I'm looking to replace my go to day bags, though at high street or preloved price points. I've always liked the Sylvie, leather Pouchette Metis and leather On The Go bags though has not felt like the right timing for me to purchase a luxury bag. My Mum and Dad both have big birthdays next year and I will be planning travel or parties to celebrate!

I still love my Neverfull but I don't even think about using it. It was for a baby bag but now I'm thinking of getting something else and just selling it. I have a few LV pieces i am thinking about letting go and just buying something else.

You are so right. I don't like any of those bags because they don't go with my wardrobe. Meanwhile I still wear my gucci supreme belt bag with my sweat suits. Bum bags are great a casual days. But I do like the last alternative.

Just my opinion, i think the bags you are talking about are casual/informal or so copied/duped they have lost cachet. some bags of the bags you talk about are waaay tooo ubiquitous (metis, neverfull, monogram canvas) but they are popular for a reason - easy to style casually with trainers or everyday outfits, practical,grab and go. i really don't like the balenciaga "Ville" or APC logomania style huge writing of brand name/heavy branding !! i do love LV empriente, and am just about to exchange my damier ebene felicie to empriente in noir or dune. xx
