When backing him up make sure his head is actually straight. Most of the time it looked like he was backing up with his head turned in to you (you were accidentally pulling his head in at times). If his head isn’t straight then it won’t be a quality backup and useless. 1 proper backup is better than 20 bad backups where they end up just rushing back and not using themselves to shift back.

He was backing crooked and stepping over into my path. I kept turning him, shifting his balance, to get him back over to the fence. Very intentional.
