I've recently moved several of my Aglaonema plants, a Domino Peace lily and some pothos straight from soil to water. I cleaned the roots as well as I could and change the water daily and clean the roots a little more each time. It's been a couple of weeks now and they are all doing great. Can you do a tutorial on "water culture"? Do you use any liquid fertilizer? Is it even needed? How often do you change the water if at all, or do you just top it off? A list of plants that you must use a water conditioner for. Soil in the house is not my friend lol so I'm currently transitioning all my plants into water. Thanks
@paultheplantparent2702
@paultheplantparent2702 Жыл бұрын
Hello there. I hear you on that. I definitely don’t prefer soil growing. I have a lint if different videos on setting plants up into water culture in this channel. I was only using water conditioner for the Calatheas. Fertilizer is used once the plants are showing new root/leaf growth, after they’ve acclimated. I use very diluted fertilizer - either orchid fertilizer or Maxigro. In the beginning I change out the water every day or two, just to keep it clean. Once the plant is growing in water I’d just top it off and flush completely about once a month. Good luck with your plant journey. Leca and/or lava rock work well too!!! 😃👍🏼🌱

I'm looking for info on how much water you fill in a vase in general for all plants.
@paultheplantparent2702
@paultheplantparent2702 3 ай бұрын
For foliage houseplants, I fill to the base of the plant so all the roots are submerged. Then I refill when 1/4 of the water is gone. For orchids, I only submerge half of the roots in water, so they get enough oxygen.

So many beautiful plants!❤❤❤ A few of them I have which I am in the middle of transferring all of them to water. But do you fertilize any of them after a month of them being in water? I know the first set that you have which I call it a Jacob's ladder I've had my babies in water for forever now. I think they do better and water compared to the ones I have in dirt. I have a calathea that has simply been dying for about a whole year. I've tried different measures to ni avail. By now it has like 4 leaves pretty sad. Since they're going to be dead relatively soon, I was wondering if it can be transfered to water. But I don't know if they can be transfered with whatever roots they have or if they need to be trimmed.
@paultheplantparent2702
@paultheplantparent2702 4 ай бұрын
Hmmm. It’s hard to tell. They’re very challenging plants. If it’s not the humidity or root rot, it’s pest infestations. I only keep a couple at this point. If it’s going down hill, not sure if transferring will even work. Such a shame because they’re beautiful plants.
