You missed slime blocks connecting to other blocks when pushed by pistons. It was originally made in part by Panda4994, who now works at Mojang

Also he missed item frames and flower pots. Both were suggested by u/rapidpenguin on Reddit on October 10th, 2011. Then 1.8 had the ocean temple. And rabbits and etc. Which is why I tend to categorize it to sub-modern versions (1.8-1.12) even though it and 1.9 had a huge gap, whereas the releases before 1.8 are classic and updates after 1.12 are modern, where people from 2013 would absolutely call it modded

Seeing those trees in those pictures makes me jealous of the trees we have today. They were so natural looking and huge. So much potential... The castles would have been great as well. Gotta say, having underground versions of those castles instead of the dungeons we have today would be much better. Dungeons are just a stone with a random spawner and a chest which is pretty much the only reason you'd go to one. Unless the spawner is for a skeleton

You state that Micleee's bacon cape was removed for unconfirmed reasons but I'm pretty sure it was confirmed he got it taken away because so many people were spamming Notch for their own custom cape. What ppl don't know is why he didn't get it back. It kinda sucks though dude only for to enjoy his cape for 17 days then gets it taken away but soon after the dude who made turtles got a cape but Micleee didn't get his bacon cape back.

The ding sound when you hit someone with an arrow used to be a plugin used on a lot of servers too, now it is in the game itself with the exact same sound.

that's because those servers just played the vanilla sound file, it's a pitched down version of the xp orb sound

Thank you JTE for creating a joke suggestion that would ultimately lead to a method of gaining artificial trust from villagers in order to get dirt-cheap trades for valuable items such as diamond tools and armor. Jokes aside, it's cool seeing community suggestions actually make it into Minecraft. That's something you don't really get with other games and developers that I really like.

@@Azraiel.Bridger mostly cuz microsoft cant get their stuff together and make bedrock edition worth it everything happens more often in bedrock because its meant to be played on-the-go by mobile players. mob spawns are more often and less spread out, and traders nearly swarm you. the music never takes a 5 minute break. cant use shield without shifting, its literally not meant for pc players and thats ignoring all the bugs and various other gameplay inconsistancies (in nearly all cases these inconsistancies are just bedrock watering down mechanics and features that were in Java originally)

the reason why Mclee got his cape removed was because a lot of players asked for custom capes after Mclee got one so Notch removed Mclee's cape in order to stop the requests

4:00 The image of Notch flooding the server with lava reminds me of an old Minecraft classic server that I would play in-browser on Minecraft.net back in the day. There was a build to survive minigame where the whole minecraft map would flood with lava, and you had to build bases to survive it. It was pretty fun, but it may have been lost to time & obscurity.

Funny you say that. Obsidian boats were once an april fools feature (I believe in 1.8 or 1.9). Once you placed them, they sank immediately because of their weight.

I began playing minecraft in 1.8. I had no idea it had come just two versions after horses got implemented. Modded survival series were just so prevalent back in the day, that those added features were just like... part of the game.

Back in beta 1.8 I suggested a anvil to combine enchantments that was a 3d model like the at the time amazing new dragon egg, Then like years later it got added. but they do not credit a load of people they get ideas from now.

Shoutout Mr. Messiah for improving lighting so much that alpha has a distinct look because of it! It's insane that such an important graphical detail was just another mod at one point but I'm glad it was.

hey, I really wanna know, how'd you find the golden apple story? like I checked the minecraft wiki and it's only slightly mentioned in the update history, and then when I looked it up there's the original jte thread and a reddit post about it, but there's basically nothing else about jte other than the minecraft forum user. how come such an important figure of minecraft history is almost completely forgotten?

I still think you should be able to make notch apples. Gold blocks with an apple plus a level 30 enchantment. Sure it's expensive but thats the point it's an emergency item.

Neat, now I know who to curse when my leaves keep floating bc there's always an invisible log that I miss in those stupid big oak trees. Same goes for those stupid new flowery trees that don't even have a new wood type and ruin your lawn My favourite is spruce bc it looks the nicest and is easiest to gather in large quantities (no side branches like jungle) but it ruins your lawn even more

I know you use a texture pack to replicate what minecraft looked like back when the features you're talking about were added, but at 7:48 there's the old cobble texture, beta 1.7 also changed the textures of some blocks, including cobblestone

I would say Super Smash Bro’s Player base also has a big influence on the game since the Wii U and 3DS games you got to pick what fighter can be in the game

Two secret suggestion on reddit on r/Minecraft that inspired Minecraft as a game but then got revised: Original End Update by Me in concept art. A mob that will trade you enderite for good loot and end loot and wears clothes of purple with chorus tree with purple wood. The End Ships have sails in them. Revised End Update by Mojang in vanilla gameplay A mob that consists of Snarling, Blastling and Watchling with different colors and Ender Heart tree with purple wood. The End Ships don't have sails in them. This was inspired by Echoing Void DLC from Minecraft Dungeons. Original Mangrove Swamp Update by Me in concept art. A biome full of frog variants of 13 based on the biomes they grew up in except 1 poisonous dart frog and mangrove trees are yellowish orange with grey bark. Cattails and lotus flower is an existing feature. Revised Mangrove Swamp Update by Mojang in vanilla gameplay A biome full of three Irish Frog Variants based on the biomes they grew up and mangrove trees are dark red with grey bark as self growing trees in water now. Cattails and lotus flower are unknown features unseen and unimplemented. Mud was now a solid than a liquid for that swamp variant. This can now be displayed in the Wild update of beautiful nature. Now its the Purification Powder(Hydrogen Peroxide) next as my secret suggestion.
