9 months ago, I decided I was going to become an expert in machine learning. I've been coding for 8 years but my math is shaky so it's been tough. In this video, I talk about my motivation and mindset, and show my progress so far.

learning. it just bullshit since they will get so many error and they had to teach ai to ignore that error.. and next thing they know the data is had so many error.. it would taken them life time to go though... best they get was a basic deepfake and face req just enough to open the door... anymore than thay a normal human can do better..

That's really amazing that by your 9th month you're already doing these cool projects. Im also at my 9th month but have just lost most of my creative energy because of so much math and stat I had to learn. Can you put up a video explaining how a person can start thier first *cool* project. Thanks for sharing your process transparently, instead of glamorous superficial bs. I think this will help a lot people in their journey, including myself. However, I have an assumption that having a low-level understanding of AI and ML is an absolute requirement in order to make a project that actually works. But it is known that ML has long history which goes all the way to the 1800s, so how does one progress correctly instead of wondering around all of the "Random" concepts?
@zanedurante3709
@zanedurante3709 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t think you necessarily need to have an understanding of all the low-level concepts. You should check out fast.ai, they really push “top-down” learning where you first learn how to create ML models and then learn implementation details afterwards.

@clervens_volcy
@clervens_volcy 3 жыл бұрын
 @Maverick jnr It might look like a boring answer but start with something simple. I think the most complex part might be the loss function and in simple project a plain old mean square error or mean average error is enough. Those functions are builtin in most deep learning framework. Start simple then work your way up to more complex things.

@clervens_volcy
@clervens_volcy 3 жыл бұрын
@@k0kuyo133 it's depend on your level in math and programming. I method that works for me (and it's not for everyone) is to try something that's one or two steps higher that what i know, blindly following a tutorial or a github source, then work my way back on the stuffs i dont understand. When i started learning deep learning, i began with object classification from a tutorial, then learn how CNNs work exactly, then objects detection and transfer learning, then tutorials on GANs, then learn what's an autoencoder is, etc.

The more I try to learn about ML, the more I realise that I am not particularly smart. I am still struggling with python data wrangling, slicing and dicing data to clean it up, and all the different python libraries. And I am not so good with the linear algebra, calculus, statistics and probability theory to really understand the ML theory. I can get bywith basic scikit Learn and Keras examples and books, but many of my ML experiments fail outside of the tutorial exercises. I feel there is a lot of ML hype on the real robustness and performance of ML algorithms.
@MahmoudMahmoudTobi

I know right!. there's just so much to learn it feels like it'll take a while to learn ML. As for the linear algebra and calculus part, for me it was covered by 3blue1brown's KZfaq channel series: essence of calculus and linear algebra. Hope that helps. it helped me have a strong intuition of how the models were created.

Hi, I saw some Artificial Intelligence videos learning to play some games. And all these algorithms seem to learn on their own based on trial and error. But I think this is wrong, or incomplete. When a child wants to play a game, that child will look for information that will allow him to get the best performance, hidden codes, punches with more power etc. So when these Artificial Intelligence programs start to search the Internet for information on how to play that game, I believe the learning process will be much more efficient. Because children don't learn a new power just by pressing buttons at random, they also have contact with other people who play the same, or even a similar game. In that Mortal Combat game, for example, there is no justification for Artificial Intelligence to perform the finishing blow or brutality, as this is an option that depends on the player's personality. In fact, it is unnecessary to carry out a brutality coup. But a child wants to demonstrate to another person that he is capable of performing a more complex coup than necessary, just for exhibitionism. I believe that when an Artificial Intelligence reaches this level, SkyNet will be working hehehe. I thought the videos were very good, and the veracity and transparency of the comments made on the videos are very good. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

Convince me that you do not need to be a researcher to be an actual ML engineer. Also, what are the metrics to measure a good Data/ML/AI Engineer vs a bad one. Is it that a good engineer is measured by resources, like the data you have, the GPU's you use? It seems to me that it's not a trivial thing and that's why I haven't touch any ML.

At 7:15 you said there were many concepts you only understand superficially, and that project based learning is much better. The way I see it its the complete opposite: most of the tutorials out there are project based and they teach in such a way that you can rewrite the whole project, but you never truly understand what it is youre doing. Ive taken many courses with good reputation and im so frustrated about this practical approach that I wish I could go to university to learn WTH im doing. So I fail to understand how you can say project based learning is better when you don't have the theoretical basics. What am i missing here?
@willkwan
@willkwan 3 жыл бұрын
Don't follow tutorials, design the projects yourself. The math is still important, but doing a few streamlined assignments and tests doesn't make up for hundreds of hours tinkering with a single concept.
@JJP-lb3ek

@@willkwan so its better to ignore the tutorials and do the whole research ourselves, from the ground up? Is that it? Like, have a goal and just execute it and learn along the way?

Going to the university is a waste of time and money. Chances are that they will have incompetent professors who can't keep up with fast evolving tech world. At the end of the day you will find that you are learning junk and not how to get actual projects done. Stem is self taught, don't expect some fool replace the real world experience you could of gained instead. This field is so complex so don't expect somebody else make it less complex for you. Learn for yourself.
@willkwan
@willkwan 3 жыл бұрын
I don't mean ignore tutorials. If you design the project yourself, you won't be able to find tutorials for everything you need to do, so you need to think for yourself. Once you work on a lot of projects, you realize that the most useful skills come up again and again so you get really good at the important stuff
