That's how all television presenter spoke then & in days long before, my mother who was a teacher spoke that way to educate students on proper Pronunciation. Fake or not, they spoke clearer with the intent that they could easily be understood, even by the partially deaf! 🧐

Geopolitics, except for the brief period of the 90s, is always the same. Two or more blocs vie with each other to expand their orb of influence, and engage in proxy wars along their peripheries; because the pie is finite. If one bloc gains a larger piece, the other bloc is relegated to a lesser position.
