Following your advice has been so helpful in helping me land a new role. The interviews have been rolling in. It’s been going so well I’ve been turning down roles that don’t align with what am looking for professionally.

I accepted less money for a contract position that was close to home. I kept talking to recruiters while I worked at my contract job and eventually I found a great position after looking for two years. I knew that something would pop up because my fellow contractors were leaving in droves.

Could you possibly do a video on LinkedIn Recruiter, and if possible, the screens that recruiters see? It would be good to observe what recruiters see on their side and will help us immensely in optimizing our LI profile and CVs. Even better, if you can do this for some of the key ATSs also and how they filter CVs. As it stands right now with my job search, what the recruiters actually see is unknown to me hence the black hole of LI recruiting and ATSs.

Another (goes for off LinkedIn too) ….Is be responsive back. If a recruiter comes to you without the right job, usually I’ll respond to them anyway saying what I’m looking for and attaching my latest resume. Nothing to lose doing that. Never know maybe the perfect role comes by the recruiters desk and they’ll remember you.

I´ve got more interviews with easy apply then not. I reach out to the hiring manager directly of that position, do research and engage...
@oldnewbreed
@oldnewbreed Жыл бұрын
I was wondering about that contacting hiring manager is named. Is it seen as kinda invasive? Like I do like the ideal one reading their profile before interview. Just started looking haven’t had an interview yet, actual last was 15 years ago lol. Sooooooo different now.
@Proposal12
@Proposal12 Жыл бұрын
@@oldnewbreed It´s not invasive, another thing you can do is go to their profile and take a look at it, this will trigger that "someone" viewed their profile, hence them getting to look at yours, if you opt not to go the direct way. Also keep in mind recruiters are their to collect info about you and forward that to the hiring manager among other few things, so by doing so you´re simply cutting out the middle man (recruiter).

Hello, I've subscribed to yr channel a week ago and is helping me a lot as I'm now undergoing a recruiting process from an application to a consulting company, I just had the first interview some two hours ago. Now waiting for the technical interview with the consulting company's customer, as per his/her approval after analyzing the summary of my interview with HR. This company always gives feedback, it is the second time i apply to them, the first one I got a prompt reply, before any interview, saying that I lack some skills needed for that role, which I agree.. This time I guess my experience is better suited for this role, which is PMO SAP. I first answered a 5 questions quiz about my knowledge of specific methodologies, processes and tools. That gave me the hint of what I'm going to work with if hired, there are a lot of good professionals around, we're not competing with fools, have to be prepared. Thanks! I'm from Brazil.

I've watched a few videos on this channel and found it interesting. Anyway, LinkedIn never did it for me. And I acknowledge networking may be more than important. Easier said than done. Better standardization across platforms is what may help. Not interested with LinkedIn's lock on it.

Good info. I used to engage in discussions on Linked-In, but stopped since I'm right of center, I would likely be cancelled by any recruiter or hiring manager in most companies. I even disconnected from work colleagues since I heard of them spreading false rumors about people based on politics.

Im not having luck in getting a new job just because I don't fullfill like 20 specific requirements by the companies nowadays which are looking for the unicorn in 2023, such as punctual experience, specific tasks done in the past, N number of software skills programs, soft skills, the perfect mood (according to the interviewer view of course), and last, for not saying the specific magic words during the interview they want to hear.....lol, anyway...I'll continue trying,

@A Life After Layoff - Question: I've heard the advice of adding one's résumé to your LinkedIn profile. I know you can make that available on the backend for recruiters (I think...or is it only to apply?), but I wasn't sure about uploading a PDF of the document under the "Featured" section to be visible by all. Thoughts?

Thanks for this video Brian! I’ve been at the job hunt full time for about 3 months now and getting all my interviews from Indeed, Career Builder, Snagajob, but only a handful of interviews from Linked In that didn’t go anywhere. I wonder if Linked In just maybe isn’t the best job board for every field. I’m in the film and tv industry and Entertainment Careers is our big job board but all of those roles receive thousands of applications a day and can really be a dead end. I’ve gotten most interviews with recruiters from temporary staffing agencies seeing my resume on Indeed and reaching out to me about temporary roles at the film and tv studios they are trying to place. I promised myself I’d never temp again but those seem to be the only jobs available to me so as I’m entering the 4th month of my job hunt, beggars can’t be choosers and I’ll take the temp job if I’m offered one. Hopefully can use some time in my next role to update my skills and practice networking more when I’m not looking for a job so that next time I’m on the hunt it won’t be so challenging or I’ll have more leads.

I have a feeling that LinkedIn is horrible for the film industry. In BC, they seem to recruit production assistants, so to network, you have to do production work. What state/province are you in?

I'm going to share a clip from a Craigslist job ad and wondering if you can do a video on this type of job ad content. I don't know if you see this nonsense but I have quite a bit and for as long as companies started using "rockstar wanted" in their ads. The ad seemed fine and normal up until I got to this point. Why would anyone who posts jobs think this is anything but annoying and juvenile: "Please include your resume and any personal or professional reference in your email response. LinkedIn/FB/Social media profile links are a plus. Also, please include your favorite color, pass time, superhero, and your best guess assumption as to why manhole covers are round."

I’ve applied to some job postings on LinkedIn that seem well written and are listing an attractive salary for the job. I’ve applied to some of these - along with hundreds of other people - and then see the job reposted a few weeks later. How can they not find good candidates about 300+ applicants?

I just watched you're video about, "constructive criticism dismissal", does that apply to a fast food worker whos much older than his coworkers, and much more masculine? I get scolded for doing a good job, like washing the nooks & crannies of the machinery even though it's not protocol. The head-cook (one of my bosses) is a goofy dude who throws food behind the grills, and just want's to leave. Also, it's the only company that would hire me because of a past drug assault, and then prison?

Are certificates without a degree worth anything when looking for hourly entry-level employment that isn't a McJob? It seems as though LinkedIn is only good for people with college degrees. Does it hold any value for finding hourly entry-level employment that isn't a McJob? I just gets frustrating to see all of these channels that seem to be targeted at finding salaried employment that requires a college degree. It doesn't seem like there are any for those looking for hourly entry-level employment without a degree or certificate.
