After watching your last video about this and then that Ted talk I started intermittent fasting. I thought trying it for 30 day couldn't hurt anything. I have lymphoedema in my left arm and really bad trigger finger in my right hand due to side effects from surgery and post chemo drugs. I haven't changed anything except the time of day I eat. Within 3 days my trigger finger was better. I am seeing improvement in my left arm too. I don't have to wear my compression sleeve on my arm as much. At the 30 day mark I was at my once a year check in with my oncologist and he asked about my inflammation. I told him I knew it sounded crazy but I thought intermittent fasting was helping me. He cut in and said that he really believes that for some people it really works and he was very encouraging to me to keep going. I have no intention of stopping. It is just what I do now. Thank you for sharing this information. OH, I've also lost about 10 pounds🤷‍♀️😁

Oh Jen....inspire me! Last year I took my weight loss seriously and I lost over 20kg (44ish lbs). I was halfway to my goal when Covid locked us in our homes.....I need to get back on track and focus and control my hormones and emotions because I haven’t completely erased 2019 results but I’m almost there....I’m not an anxious person normally but I do eat my feelings, or eat my way through my feelings and this year has basically gotten the better of me.

Thanks Jen for sharing your experience! When we were sent to work at home in March I started this because I was so much less active and was feeling very lumox ish. There wasn’t a need to get up, eat breakfast, and then walk over to my living room to sit...eat again twice more times. Definitely feeling similar improvements as you and my mood has been positively affected as well. Will definitely keep it up. Good luck as you keep going with it!

I have just begun intermittant fasting but I do liquids only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Mostly homemade chicken bone broth with jello and coffee of course! I do use liquid sugar free creamer as well. I drink water and some sugar free cranberry juice and maybe will have a protein shake with plant milk once in a while. The other 4 days are regular food but I do try to stay fairly close to the Mediterranean diet plan with lots of vegs and some fruit, lean chicken and fresh homemade bread. I do have to limit that! We will see how it goes as I have osteo arthritis and fibromyalgia and to get those two issues toned down a couple notches would be awesome. I did enjoy very much listening to your encouraging video!

This is great. I too have been doing intermittent fasting and am seeing a lot of benefits. My issue is also the late night eating. I like to call it my default, so like you said, not a slave to it, just my default unless there is some reason not to do it, that is what I go with. During Covid I have been finding my defaults in a lot of areas of life and look forward to exploring your channel to help me with that process. 💜

I just completed my first 30 days. I watched your first video and researched and decided I'd try for 30 days and see how I felt. I also have hoshimotos and even with my meds I feel so blah most days and about a year ago I had my gallbladder removed and for the first time had acid reflux, digestion issues, bloating, ect. I also have back issues where I can't walk very far without being in alot of pain. So, after 30 days I feel better than I have in a long time and lost 9.9lbs. So its been a huge success so far. Thank you so much for sharing and opening my eyes to this. I would have never thought of intermittent fasting would help with so much!!!

Hi Nichole, it’s been 2 years since you told us about your successful intermittent diet results. I was wondering how you ve been lately? I ve just started thyroid meds and I have Hashimotos too and I’ve just began researching all about it. I’m gonna start the intermittent diet and was wondering how it impacted your Hashimotos. I also suffer from chronic back pain so I identified with your comment about your back pain ON TOP of Hashimotos!!!!! I can’t exercise much because of pain so I hope the diet makes a difference

Hello, I have found it helps tremendously. Along with hashimotos and chronic back pain I have IBS, so controlling what I when I eat helps so much. I actually lost a total of 50 lbs. I would definitely try it. I started with 11-7 then changed to 12-6 after time. I drink water all morning then have lunch at noon and dinner around 5. Of course there are days I eat outside this window depending on whats going on, but it works well for me!!! Let me know if you have anymore questions 🙂

I started an 8-ish/16-ish intermittent fasting habit back in March, just before The Great Unpleasantness. I’m down a little over 10lbs. The stay-at-home that started in mid-March helped tremendously - more chances to work out and daily dog walks. Hopefully remote working will be made permanent with my job!

Joyful Living with Jen Lefforge I also have a thyroid condition, but mine is Graces Disease. I used the 8:16 Intermittent Fasting as well back in the winter and I found it just helped me develop better eating habits. I also try to just eat way more vegetables on plate and not restrict myself from enjoying the chocolate and pizzas, but just more in moderation. Hey Jen, great info. I need to go watch the Ted Talk. I did try intermittent fasting last year but only lasted 10 days but then a couple month later I did it for another 10 days. I just wasn't ready to stick to it (by the way I have Hashimotos too) However, it did change the way i ate, now I eat intuitively and pretty much only eat 2 meals a day even though i tried it only for a short time. and lost 10 lbs. Congratulations on those results, Jen! That's amazing! I have been intermittent fasting now for 3 weeks. And to my surprise it is going absolutely fine, it's so easy even to keep up. I use an app to keep me on track with drinking water and when to stop or start eating :) I do the 14/10 window because I also have some medication that needs to be taken with food in the morning and the evening, so for now I can't make that window smaller, but I intent to try that in the near future! we'll see, but I'm actually hopeful about it. Even after a few days I could totally feel a difference already and that was that I wasn't feeling so bloated. I started focussing again on my water intake and that has improved again so another plus on that! yay :) I have lost 1 kilo (it does shift a bit, one day I lose like 500 grams, 3 days later I might have gained 800 grams, but in total after 3 weeks, 1 kilo is goners! :)) I have a Zoom call tomorrow with my dietitian so she'll be pleased to hear that I'm feeling wonderful, less bloated, lost some weight and the main reason for me to start was indeed also to stop the mindless snacking in the evenings! That has totally worked. As soon as the app tells me: 1 hour to go! I then think: do I still need to eat something... or maybe do I still want a little treat or some desert? and sometimes I don't, sometimes I do eat like a mini Ice cream cone or a few spoonfuls of Ben&Jerry's...I wait until like 7.50pm so that I'm still not snacking for like an hour and when it's 8pm, that's it, I stop, put everything of food that might be still near me, away and I go brush my teeth and do all the things I have to do before bed so I don't have to do those later on anymore and it feels so good. It's like a new routine already.

I’m 63 and I’m not a breakfast person and I’m not hungry when I get up so I don’t eat till around noon. I’ve been doing this for about a month and have actually gained some inches in my belly and a few pounds. I cut out gluten and dairy over a year ago and lost some weight but with Covid I’ve been having a glass of red wine too often and with my husband home I’ve been doing more cooking. I walk my dog a couple miles every day and about three days a week ride 7 miles on my bike and do weights. I’m only 5 foot and weigh 144 and a size 10. I can’t seem to get to my target weight of 120 or down to a size 6 no matter what I do. I was always told that not eating actually slows down your metabolism.

Wait....the video that seems to have been yesterday was actually from 2 months ago??!? Gaaaaaaaahhhh...time warp!! The concept of time during the Great Unpleasantness is so messed up. Love a good follow-up video, though! This is all really interesting. And I'm all about challenging the norms of what we were taught, which were seemingly based on nothing - like the Food Pyramid and 8 glasses of water, and all that stuff. Everyone's bodies function similarly but uniquely, and it's great to find what works best for our individual selves.
@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge

So well put, Charlie, because yes so much of what we were taught was based on NOTHING! Things we assume are true medically and they just aren't. And yes, time does fly when you're making your way through a global pandemic? UGH. As always, I appreciate you, Sir!

I’ve never been a morning eater...Just give me coffee with a splash of cream and I can start my day.... Biggest problem has always been eating at night... It’s crazy how much one can mindlessly eat...Started cutting myself off at 7:00 and bam 10 pounds gone... intermittent fasting has made me significantly more aware of how bad the snack habits had gotten....
