Kamille is a meme at worst but he's a beloved main character in gundam. In terms of Newtype abilities, only Judau and probably the enhanced/enlighten Banana can fair against Kamille especially during his Zz days where he can use telepathy in the solar sytem.

So in that regard, I believe Judau to be less powerful without the Kamille connection. Still a great newtype tho.

As far as I know, Kamille is the most powerful Newtype in Gundam lore.

if kira went for the kill instead of disarming, he could end a lot of lives. The fact that he went 1 vs entire fleet and able to disarm them with precision, shows how much of a jesus he is

@liecretsev not sure what your point is, I never said he wasn't a Jesus or Mary Sue type character. I just like him. Frankly any story about a civilian with no training getting into a military weapon with no training and decimating all experienced pilots in his/her path with on the fly experiences making up the bulk of his/her combat growth with marginal at best character growth... are all Jesus/ Mary Sue stories. In this regard, After Colony And OO are the most realistic and most grounded universes and 8th MS team one of the most grounded stories in the UC. Of course, not accounting for space evolution/ wizards (UC, and Seed are the biggest offenders in this regard).

The entire franchise would have done a hell of a lot better if Athrun had been the MC.

Speaking of athrun. I also detect some mentorship between Shin and Athrun like how it is between Kamille and Quattro. And also how destiny supposed to be CE version of Zeta that would be awesome if Kira Yamato shenanigans doesn't exist.

Athrun is also my fav character on CE. But the problem with him as you said, is that his too easy to manipulate. Chairman Durandal almost got him. Almost. And he changes sides a lot. One minute his Zaft. Then Orb on another. Then back on Zaft again. Then went back on Orb lol. But whatever, he destroyed the Destiny so easily he was awesome.

Yuu and Nimbus originated in a 1996 video game. Characters that originate in gundam games have not been able to reach to popularity of characters that originate in shows, novels, or manga. It got a tie-in manga sure but it isn't the same

Quite a surprise for me as well. Kira’s very popular in Japan. But quite polarizing in several other countries, especially the west. People either love him or really hate him, thus brought down the average. Same thing happened to strikefreedom on the other list.

Kira is just a big fish in a pond if you put him against the OGs in the sea cosmos. Kira's not even featured in Gundam Beyond. Meanwhile Amuro/Kamille/Char gets to be in the spotlight everytime UC is featured. Kamille is also the first gundam protagonist to win the best male in the anime grand prix while Char winning the same category the year before. And while Kira is popular in Japan, he's also voted as the most hated.

@@servitudenations He had an ungodly amount of plot armor that made his fights especially during seed destiny boring to watch because it became predictable. Being OP is a tough concept to execute because its hard to put stakes in them so it must be handled correctly. Lastly his pacifist persona did not fit well with the western audience because it made him toxicly naive to the nature of war unlike some of the other MCs. I love the seed gundam desingns but I felt the characters were mostly flat.

Umm no. In Seed he barely had challenges with fodder enemies and his unit has always been the strongest. UC pilots alone can outshine Kira, and we're not talking about the uber newtypes. Then if the gundam special system has to be considered such as those in IBO and G-Gundam, then the orphans and the 5 Shuffle fighters exceed him. 00 Celestial being pilots are also super human with setsuna eventually becoming a true innovator, he has all the powerups of a newtype without their downside.

char is so popular he gets referenced in media outside gundam. He's like the blueprint for masked villains with well-intentioned extremism. and amuro is popular because MC and decent character from the OG.

Amuro is archetype charecter and he is a incredibly popular charecter, most of gundam charecter ranking list you can see him no 2 or 3 place not no 1 because it almost impossible to beat char in terme of popularity

@@uandresbrito5685 It's not that they were written so badly, more that they suffered (along with the rest of Destiny) due to how chaotic production of the season got. Chikai Morosawa was having health issues (such as a cyst in in one of her ovaries) which required constant medical attention. Not to mention the rumors that were (and still are) spread around that she thought Naomi Shindo (Cagali's VA) was having an affair with her husband (who was the director of the show) and had a vendetta against her. Maybe in an alternate timeline, the show ended up being really good instead of the crap we ended up getting xD

When you try to argue with them, they will say popularity =/= quality, and circlejerk you to a ban or block.
