90 Month Prison Term at Montgomery Federal Prison Camp
Rich Davis reached out to me after reading Lessons From Prison. Rather than just prepare for life in federal prison (which of course we did), he wanted to also prepare for all of the inevitable obstacles that follow a white collar crime conviction and federal prison term.
Even though we worked together for just one week before his surrender, our work must continue from the inside. The key to thriving through federal prison is creating clearly defined goals. You must also have people holding you accountable. I, along with friends and family of Rich, will hold him accountable. Holding him accountable will ensure his prison term is both fulfilling and productive.
I applaud Rich for sharing his experience and thoughts on his 90-month prison sentence at Montgomery Federal Prison Camp. We both hope you find value in our video.
Best,

I was stationed at maxwell afb in the 80;s. I drove by this place many times and you could not tell it was a prison by looking at it. I ate in prison chow hall as a guest of one of the guards. The military men stationed there did not ever see the awesome chow they had. the inmates had it made there.

Did 6 1/2 years at maxwell. It’s the best place in the feds to do time. Anyone going there has it made. The hardest thing about doing time at maxwell is being away from your family. Very easy to do time there

@@WhiteCollarAdviceOfficial I have to self surrender there on November 4th for a 63 month sentence for PPP loan fraud and was wondering if it was one of the better Camps or a bottom of the line Camp? I really appreciate your videos and for responding to my question. I have never been arrested much less any prison time. I am really having a lot of anxiety and panic attacks about it. I have asthma and many other health issues on top of this Virus. Thank you..!

@@WhiteCollarAdviceOfficial My public defender did NOT prepare me for anything. PSR, RDAP, Letters or anything. I am thinking of letting him go and hiring you to help me file some motions like compassionate release and I strongly believe my sentencing was to harsh on $277,000 restitution. I have seen many in the tens of millions with a lesser sentence. I found a case that was almost exactly like mine and he only got 18 months.

Justin: Although I generally like your videos, the interviews with clients always seem incomplete, because you/they studiously avoid mentioning the "crime behind the time." You can trot out all the reasons in the world -- looking forward not back, "press releases are one-sided," etc. But knowing that this guy conned many middle/lower middle class people of their life savings seems relevant to me, in evaluating his comments and commitment to real change. All the weight he's gonna lose and the books he's going to read will never give those folks back their hard-earned money.

I was stationed at this air base that has this prison. You really could not look at it and tell it was a prison. I ate at the chow once, food was better than what they served military. If I ever go to prison, make it here.

Justin how soon before being sentenced like Rich should someone submit a letter from himself and friends and family to the judge? How long before sentencing should the judge read the letters? Thanks in advance...

One of the issues I am having trouble understanding about so called “white collar crimes” as it pertains to physicians and health care fraud. If patients were referred for unnecessary procedures and left with a major complication, doesn’t this become a non-white collar crime on top of the Medicare fraud aspect? I think there is a misnomer in the medical crime world that focuses disproportionately to the money and greed side and not the physical harm the patients are left with. Does this make sense?

... I have to say this fella has a cheerful attitude... so far... and maybe his boys will make an effort to stay in touch with their Dad... but seven years is a very long time... and no matter how one might want to "put lipstick on a pig" and have goals and hope... the world he's known is over... it will be far different when he gets out of prison... and so will the lives of his children, his "love of his life" and others... especially the folks he willfully defrauded... and knowing he can never repay no matter how much life he has left... this guy has been lying to himself and others for so long... how could he have ever thought he'd ever get away with it?

smurch93060 No where in our video did I ever hear him say he thought he would get away with it. Moreover, in the totality of his life and his children’s life this experience will turn out to be a blip. My business partner Michael Santos conquered 26 years in prison. He came home strong, with resources and a network. Shon Hopwood, my other partner, served more than a decade in prison and he is now a law professor at Georgetown. My point is others have done it and done it well. With the right plan and attitude, and if he can avoid the happy talk that is pervasive in so many prisons, I have no doubt Rich will thrive in prison. And more importantly he will thrive upon his release.
