My brother has mild autism and LOVED Barney. When I was turning 10 and he was 11 I had a sleepover and made my brother promise he wouldn’t turn on Barney the next morning while my friends were over. When my friends started singing the theme song mockingly, my brother jumped in enthusiastically and started singing the rest of the song. I burst into tears because I was so embarrassed. All my friends jumped in so sweetly saying, “Mary it’s okay!! We secretly like it too we just make fun of it because everyone else does!!”

As a kid who was too old for Barney... I definitely knew the song... because *younger siblings exist* and most times, Barney (along with a ton of other baby shows) was forced on the older kids because the parents wanted the older siblings to help watch the younger while they are doing something like making meals.
