@@bossman7278 I bought some whites, they are truly next level and will probably survive me, but sneakers, I will go through it like a freight train, a 1 G is steep, at that point Goral is more appropriated and still very good quality. For the summer I like mocassins, as in boating shoes, after a couple of years they wrap to you feet like a second skin, Barbour are nice to wear, light and resistant, not for walking miles though because you eat the sole. But you are right, these are really priced on the deep end of the pool for normal people.

This is the unfortunate side of this channel. But you can't do it any other way. IMO, this is justified, because it exposes bad practices and elevates good ones, like this company's quality product. You'd never see these normally. They wouldn't show it so casually, and you can't have this kind of detail visible from all the companies around the world. There's one more thing. It may not seem like it now, you may not see it such, but... this has invaluable historic value. In the future, provided these videos survive, people can go back and see these things. Again, IMO, this is worth it.

Using cordovan is absolutely insane. Another important thing is how soft it is for its durability, as well as its slickness. It doesn't crease or bunch, and I do archery. The top finger tabs (something to protect your fingers when you hold the string) are all from cordovan leather, and for one of them, which is probably about 2 inches of leather and some metal fixtures, it will run you about £90. A shoe made from just one piece is absolutely ridiculous, and considering the prices of high end shoes, that price makes complete sense. Completely out of my price range but wow. Anyone that can afford it will 100% not be disappointed by that leather quality, and it'll be incredibly durable. For reference, pros shoot thousands of arrows off one tab, which is a tiny contact surface, consistently holding back 40lbs, to release as gently as possible, meaning that that string will be constantly rubbing and wearing that leather. This is known as one of the highest quality leathers for a good reason.

A shell cordovan of about 2.6 square feet will cost about 200 euro (Maryam) For 2 whole cut shoes you need two of them. That still leaves a price tag of 500 euro for the production of very simple and not very pretty sneakers. Using a rediculously over the top material to cover up the rediculously over the top price for the production of them. O, and from the left over scraps alone a bunch of archery finger tabs can be made. A far better use where material properties meet actual needs.

@@renatoetzi That makes sense if you ignore the other materials used for the sneaker, the cost of labour to manufacture and hand sew shoes, the cost of energy to run a factory, insurance, local taxes for the factory, maintenance of the factory, the cost of running and maintaining a website, internal IT costs for finance and accounting, auditor costs, packaging, customer service costs and free shipping. I love Crown Northhampton's attention to detail. Like the laces. They lace using the over under method and the left shoe is always perfectly mirrored to the right shoe. For example, when the laces cross, the right shoe has the right lace overlap the left lace. The left shoe is reversed, creating a mirror effect. It's such a tiny detail, but satisfies my OCD.

I grew up skateboarding, so quality footwear was really skewed in the big scheme of leathers. Once I started needing dress shoes and boots, I quickly realized the importance of full grain leather. Seeing this cut open hurt! What an absolute beauty of a midtop sneaker. Even seeing a full grain skate shoe for $120-$150 is too expensive for most. Imagine these being an after skate or full on go-to formal sneaker. $910 isn’t so crazy when low quality, plastic-infused top grain leather SB Dunks and Jordan 1s go for hundreds to thousands of dollars.

For the quality and attention to detail its hard to match for the price. Dress them up or down they go with almost everything, I've worn the hi tops with casual suits. A minor compliant, the upton's came with ridiculously short laces that I needed to replace - I have a high arch feet and tend to bulge out of the top of shoes, probably should have gone with the "wide" fitting. I also love knowing that when the soles wear out, I can send them back to be replaced.

I have shoes that are reminescent of these from a strange German shoe company called Trippen. They are not seamless but the seams are turned outwards and are placed very well in pretty "novel" places. They really have formed themselves instead of creasing at all. It's only one layer of leather, nothing inside at all. I have had them for several years and I love them. They show no signs of wear except the original shoelaces just gave up. I think they cost me $130 at an outlet so $1000 for a pair of shoes feels pretty extreme, even if it's a very good pair.

As a sneakerhead this is not a type of shoe I had considered before. After watching the first video on these shoes I'm interested. Although expensive, you get a really good quality product and I could see a shoe like this literally lasting me a lifetime. Definitely something I will consider now next time I need to buy a more formal type of shoe. Cheers for the detailed info too. Best sneaker videos on KZfaq by far

Hey man! These are that expensive because made of Horween Shell Cordovan. I have 2 pairs of Crown Northampton sneakers made of different leathers: - Crown Northampton Upton Wholecut - Horween green chromexcel - Crown Northampton Upton Wholecut Essex - Horween natural Essex Both are muuuuch cheaper than shell but look same nice and feel veeery comfy. I never regretted a second I had bought them all. I do recommend them. Cheers!

There are now a bunch of direct-to-consumer leather shoes and boots manufacturers in India that are absolutely outstanding in terms of style, construction and materials .... at literally 20% of the cost of the UK / US. Would be really interesting to benchmark those to these global brands.

I have 2 problems with them and I know you can’t disagree because they’re gripes you usually bring up. The foam and the cork. Foam has no place in a $910 shoe. The foam will wear out of a few months and serves no purpose other than initial comfort. The cork, while being a relatively decent addition to the average shoe is still inferior to another piece of leather in its place. After significant wear the cork is pushed around and gaps are made making them less comfortable and not as long term of an option. It’s objectively a great shoe but it’s not as good as it could be.

third problem: it's ugly.
@Bawnana

I agree with you on the foam my dude, but maybe you should reevaluate cork. It is lighter than leather, antimicrobial, and the only natural solid which when compressed on one side, does not increase in volume on the other. When a sole is thicc like this sneaker ya gotta slap some cork in there. A full leather insole is only ever comfy on hardbottom shoes in my opinion 😊. I agree with your point though, these sneakers shouldn't've did that foam bit.

@@Bawnana The foam is just in the removable insole. If that starts wearing out, you can just get new ones. Takes zero work.

As a cobbler, I agree with your points that other superior meterials could be used instead, especially the foam and how true, cork can eventually break up to a point where it causes discomfort.

I have mixed feelings about cork. On a shoe, rather than a boot, I really prefer a lighter material than leather. However, you are correct that in terms of wear, cork will not last as long and is inferior to leather. I believe the foam is removable.

While the quality is top notch, the aesthetics aren't up to par. They're kind of ugly. Work on the silhouette and lines of the shoe a bit more. Those things look like marching band shoes mixed with an old church shoe. So they're still not a perfect shoe. Appeal is a big component of footwear too. They can be improved upon.

Having NB made in UK and Diadora made in Italia as well as famous Northampton dress shoes, I can tell the european sneakers are well above their asian cousins. Both in material and craftmanship. The QC is better too, so is the wearing experience. However, they are not comparable to the finest dress shoes.
