So basically the guy that bought that new only took 3k miles to get so tired of everyone's first reaction to his expensive new car being "Dude what's up with the yellow seat belts?", that he traded it in for something else.

I for one agree that a reasonable fast car with a well sorted chassis and manual is more fun than an all out barn burner.

I love that you stayed honest even though Porsche FF was trying to get you to help them out by showing this car. You didn't hold back on the considerable downsides. I love the way the Turbo looks, perfect non obnoxious spoiler, but that's about it. You get the speed (overrated for road use), but you don't get the awesome sound or manual option.

Yep, the yellow seatbelts scream poser. Like the guy in high school I knew who put one of those window nets for racing in his door windows of his 80's Camero. He would also always roll up the sleeves of his Member's Only jacket.

I just realised why they understate the power on their cars, true brilliance on my behalf. With a new model coming in they can say it has 30 more horsepower and still not be lying about its power output and thus not have to rely on changing the engine at all as that costs money.

Yellow brake calipers, carbon ceramic brakes, yellow seatbelt, grey gauges, center lock wheels. This car almost got all the stuff you hate about on a 911. 😂

I love the silhouette of the 991 cab, the way the roof meets the back is beautiful, only bested by the 6 series and old boxster Spyder.

Great car. Beautiful spec. Price is actually extremely reasonable too for what it is. Good on your Porsche dealer to let ye review it. They should do this more.

Have to agree on the usable power with these. I bought a 997 TT, 2007, the way the power comes on is a blast. Mine's a manual though, with a PDK it would just be too fast to enjoy on roads.

I agree with you Nick on not being much fun on roads due to the extreme limits.

Nick!! Belts are easily changed with aftermarket ones so yellow not a big issue. The fact it's a white convertible, PDK and 4WD means it is a tart's handbag and not for me

This car is a great value if you can pick it up as a CPO with low miles, especially when compared to a brand new GTS or even S, which when you add up all the a la carte nickel-and-dime Porsche options that are standard on the Turbos, can easily push $150-160k. So yeah, if you have around $2,000/month to spare you should absolutely buy this car!

I actually like the look of the turbo a lot more than the Carerra, except for the small wing. The side vents on the turbo looks cool and aero. Used turbos are going pretty cheap too . Around 100k or less.

Well Nick I finally got to drive the 992 TTS with the sports exhaust it’s sounds similar to the GT2RS but a lot more refined. It also has a very different feel as well. It just reaffirmed my choice in pre- ordering this car.

Agree with the point regarding power. It's just to much to have fun pushing it. Its more like a rocket, just shoots along.

Two questions. Why do manufactures allow people to order a car with red/yellow combo anywhere near the interior? Why doesn't the dealership just change the belts to help them move the car?

Terrific cars, as they should be for the price. The yellow seat belts look good on William...on you, not so much...the red interior would look great on a black Turbo, black seat belts, however...

OK, Nick. I took delivery of my 992 C4S last October, what an amazing car! Big (BIG), but amazing. One week ago I also bought a 2015 991 Turbo S (Orig MSRP $216+K). Everything you mentioned on the 991 Turbo S is true. Many things, I admit, I like better than the 992, e.g., door handles, analog gauges, really a sassy attitude, it’s smaller (but not small), and the special interior and exterior touches to this coupe are mesmerizing. I do like the PDK shifter on the S better than the 992. Both are wonderful cars...but if I had to let just one of them go....it’d be one hell of a hard decision.

I hope you do a targa review in the future.

One thing more to mention about the downsize is the sound and that there is no sport exhaust button.

Was baited by a Turbo S recently. Fortunately I knew my cars limitations were nowhere near a Turbo S. He did give me several full exhaust crackles to remind me.

The understated horsepower thing is a bit of a myth, they actually make pretty much precisely rated power. The thing that gets people (and dyno's) confused is that the ECU makes sure that power is being made in every conceivable place on earth from a warm day in Dubai to winter in Colorado. What happens is people put a Turbo on a dyno and run it like they would any other (naturally aspirated) car. Correction factors get applied, more often than not conditions are worse than the correction factor's baseline so horsepower is magically added by the SAE, DIN or what have you correction factor when in fact the ECU is already correcting for environmental differences and adjusting boost/spark timing accordingly. They should be dyno'd with no CF at all and preferably on something like a MAHA that spits out reliable numbers and not 'murican WHP.

I drove the 991.2 Turbo on track ... it’s insanely quick and you hear that all the time but it’s hard to fathom until you’ve driven one. $60k off sticker with 3k miles is the way to go.

Hmm... didn't 991.2 turbo(S) get upgraded venting.. higher flow injectors, higher pressure in the fuel rails, etc etc? Not just cosmetic. Still a great value though so I agree with your points.

Only Thing i dont like about the Turbo (s) is the Vacuum-Cleaner Sound but Apart from that its a great car. I'd buy A GT3(RS) though

Amazing machine, although I don't get the appeal of the white exterior/red leather as I see that so often with high end cars around here. I'm not even going to say anything about the banana seat belts but I'm sure they impressed Albert in the back seat there.

Doesn’t the 991.2 turbo S have bigger turbos than the normal turbo? I think I read that somewhere and that is the reason why techart is able to push 700+ hp from the 991.2 TurboS engine
