92 Vintage Banshee Front A Arm Restoration

So we are moving along. The 92 Vintage Banshee is going to be amazing. Everything is going to be looking GREAT! In todays video, we will be restoring and installing the Banshee OEM A-Arms. I will be using many different tools and products for this build, so hold on and pay attention.

Great vids man, deff gotta get more people watching. I want to build me a powder oven like u did. Have ur video to follow when I do haha. With banshee upper a arms I always grease the inside of the long sleeve, and a film on the bolt also b c. The grease can't go in between the bolt and sleeve b.c. Yamaha didn't drill holes in the sleeves. I've pulled several apart where the bolt gets seized inside the sleeve, and when I finally bust the bolt free or cut it off, there's a ton of grease in the a arm. I actually also started drilling my own holes in the sleeve as an added measure to avoid seizure. Hope it helps, and keep it up bro!!! So stoked to see this shee come together.

Thank you. That’s a good pointer. I’m going to take my bolts out and either put antiseize on them. I have also run into these bolts being seized and having to pretty much pound them. Creates a huge mess in the process.

@@juicer911 yeah I've had em stuck so bad that a 3lb sledge wasn't doing anything, and they were loaded with grease too. I anti sieze or grease the bolt, but ya man I've yet to have one sieze after drilling a couple small holes in the sleeve. Deff stoked to see this bike done. I want to do a 92 replica myself lol

@@dennisbrooks186 So you just drill a few holes in the sleeve of the uppers and that’s it? I’ve done a similar mod to the swingarm ones for my kids raptors

@@juicer911 yeah. I'll usually put 4. Assemble it dry, remove grease fitting. Scribe a mark on the sleeve through grease fitting hole. Take apart. I'll do 2 holes where grease fitting is, one on each side of the tube. Then I do 2 more off to the side about half inch from grease fitting. One to the left and one the right, but also in the middle of the 1st 2. So to picture that in ur head. If u were to cut the tube down it's length, flatten it, the holes would make a diamond around the grease fitting general location lol. And I'm talking like only 3/16" holes. U can obv do how u like but man, it's just such a nice peace of mind on shees I keep. I still do it on sale bikes too.

We replace those bushings. People laugh and say it cant be done. Until they see ours. You should see their faces when they they find out we replace them with removable ball joints. Yes, removable, if they break for any reason or wear out, client can change them themselves. We remove, send to powder, install and thats it. Good video tho.

I'm restoring my blaster (same a-arms on the banshee) but people are giving me a hard time about when the ball joints have heat itll melt i got mine out of the oven and the oem ball joint moves perfectly fine no play in them

doesnt the nylon ball joint melt way before 400 degrees?

I didn’t have any issues with that. It melted a little, but was tight once it cooled.

What’s the sand blaster setup you have? Would love to add one to my arsenal.

I have a sandblasting cabinet from Harbor freight. Also a cheap Amazon gun. Nothing over the top. The air compressor is a 60 gallon Dewalt from tractor supply. Works really well. Just ordered a dust separator and vac.
