Holy crap!! How many times have I been in that exact position lol. Carrying, dragging, pulling pushing and grunting. Getting ready to start doing it again though as soon as gun season is over lol. Tip though, buy the torx head screws if they need to be longer than 1 1/2 inches. Much easier to drive in.

Next one I build, couple of weeks, cutting out a bunch of weight. Using firing strips in the walls and 3/8 plywood. I build my roof similar to walls, so it fits over the 4 walls. Once I get 3 walls up I’ll get the roof in place before the final wall. I used snow slide on the roof, glued backing works miracles. 10 years no leaks. Windows can be long and narrow, not for bow hunting, if you can see sky, your windows are too wide!

I used a stand very much like this for over a decade and found a few extras worked out really well. Make sure you level the floor, especially if you want to put in a swivel chair or stool. If nothing else, if the floor isn't level, it will be really annoying to feel like you are leaning one direction all the time. Put tin or sheet metal on the roof . This will make the stand last a lot longer. Also, put some triangular shelves in the corners; really handy for your thermos, binoculars, lunch, Also, cover them with carpet to prevent noise. Some hooks or nails to hang things on are important if you want to shed some clothing in a heated stand. I use a medium size backpack and hanging it makes accessing what I want really easy. For the leaves you want to put on next year, cut some cardboard stencils, or spray paint around some pine boughs.

A++ deer stand!!! Well Done! I've had visions of building a 4 X 4 just like what you built. I think I'm going to build the entire blind on the ground, then insert two 12 ft. 4x4's in one side of the deck brackets and pull it upright with a 4-wheeler, then insert the remaining two 4x4's. Actually building the stand wall by wall THEN a roof while 20 ft. up in the air... Screw That!!! haha Great job!!!

I really HATE to say this but being OCD and looking at the painting on the last wall installed... It's upside down. Other than that It is a fantastic job. You gave me so many ideas but I can't paint worth a dam so I'll have to figure out how to do that part! But I will try to remember that branches grow towards the sky! Speaking of bugs, spiders, mice & wasps. Soak peppermint oil on cotton balls and put them in the corners on the floor. I use that in my basement and my shed and it works fantastic. Cut the carpeting to fit and about a week before you go hunting then put the carpeting in so that it doesn't get moldy! Can't wait to see the finished product and some deer next year. Probably tough to do there but if a little more open I would put it together on the ground then stand it up. Sounds tough but it's a lot easier than struggling with every wall. Get a few friends and stand it up after all put together.

Jeffbarron70 did a similar box blind but easier camo pattern. Also built different as he was alone and placed the 4x4 in the ground first then raised the floor. We call these hotel blinds cause they are comfy compared to our lock ons.

Man great job just some friendly advice me and my grandpa built an 8ft blind we built the whole thing on the floor, pre installed a hook on the roof, tied it to the back of the truck and just lifted her up all at once, you just gotta pre measure where the legs are gonna fall and put a slight hole so you get some leverage and it stands up right when your pulling with the truck, that whole o. Insulation could not be further from the truth we put some insulation and we have to deal with mice even woodpeckers that’s made nests I. Between the walls the blind going on 10yrs still going strong

If you'd like to heat that, why not put in a little ventless hang on propane heater. You could put a shelf hanging next to the ladder so that you could put a disposable propane bottle about the size used for propane grills and run a copper line from there to the heater. The heater wouldn't take any room away from the inside dimensions and would keep it nice and toasty on the inside. I've seen that type little one burner heaters no bigger than 10 by 12 inches and it wouldn't hang more than 8 inches out from the wall. When not in use, disconnect the bottle to take with you and use electrical tape to seal the connection against wasps and dirt dobbers. I would also assume you are going to have some way to padlock the door to keep intruders out.

After I receive it, I set it up and left it outside at home for a couple of months to let it start smelling more like outside than human. So far I've been very happy with it. Very roomy - I hunt alone but could easily fit another person comfortably. Put one bolt through the shoot-through mesh, and works as advertised. I've ordered another one, so this noob is totally satisfied. One caveat - the included stakes are pretty useless; you'll want to order something more substantial. I haven't had it long enough to rate durability, but zero issues so far.

Nothing says potential broken back than using a wooden ladder, with a hose clamp that's holding a cracked rung together!!! haha

You mentioned snow and ice. Tip: Paint your floor before you put down the carpet. Tracking snow into the blind will slowly rot the plywood. That has happened to me. Yeah it takes a while to happen, but then you don't have to cut out and replace a part of your floor. What state are you in? Got me thinking of building my own tower blind. What are those metal brackets called? $$$?

I see that you have both of the cross bracing 2x4"s on the same side of the corner posts. Did you just force the inner 2x4 inward to make it work? Mine is up and level. next step is bracing.

Nice looking blind but I think before you did all that work to move it in and get it set up, I'd have set fire to that shit to burn out all of that underbrush.. It's so damn thick, you're not going to be able to see anything and the deer will find easier areas to traverse...........
