This video is part 2 of 2 parts and shares my Great Great Grandfather's Civil War diary in a documentary style. He was an 18 year old volunteer the last year of the war and he fortunately wrote a diary about his experiences as a union soldier. Narrated by my brother and me. Enjoy!

My ancestor was one of the many that the confederates forced into fighting. He was lucky and managed to desert without capture, and moved out west. He changed his name. My families last name isn’t out true one.

People have forgotten what government was in control before the Civil War when slavery was born and the same government was still in control after the Civil War.

That is why we learn from and assess history. People always have and always will be manipulated by propaganda by those in power. The powerful will gamble lives to keep their power. The conundrum is how do we "normal" people hold them accountable and check their power?

Oh yeah! I it have watched many times. 2 years later, and I'm back. Here's a story. My gg was elected captain of the Pike County Regiment Missouri home guard. His name was Enoch Coose.He was a famous horse breeder in Missouri. Him and his two sons fought at Wilson Creek and served the duration. His horse was highly coveted by all. In 1866, he was bushwacked robbed and killed while out on a horse trade.His horse showed back up at the farm two days later. His two sons got into a heated argument over who would get his horse. They drew pistols and shot each other. They fought through the entirety of the war and made it home without a scratch, only to die from gunshot wounds at home. How absolutely insane is that. The rest of my family are just as crazy today. Thanks again for your videos.

Very interesting family lore, sir! I loved watching the yellowstone series and 1883/1923 from Taylor Sheridan. "Times was Tough" back then!
