I like how we’re both stuck tho and we’re both looking for the same fix , I just ordered the Edelmann 3003 Elite steearing box and I hope that fixes it

I’m still chasing dragons on the steering , I’m looking at a complete custom steering linkage from Schumacher metal works or the rack and pinion kit from elevated designs , i even paired the eldenman steering box with the borgeon steering shaft and it is still very bad steering, it did help a lot but it did not give me what I wanted , I think I have to replace everything single moving part , control arms and everything

Ive replaced every single part up front including the steering gear box... still 2.5-3" of play... I've heard mixed reviews on these shafts.. but I have 33's and I'm tired of fighting to keep her going straight!

I'm in the same boat, hoping this part will finally solve it, really makes driving it a chore, especially in the snow when I can't tell if it's the play or if I'm losing grip. Did you ever get yours sorted, and if so how?

Didn't fix the slop, and didn't discuss that at the end. Gearbox or pitman arm the next step?

Maybe you should find the voltage drop in your gas gauge sending unit.

Maybe...I think it was a oil/needle issue with the gauge though. I fixed it once I added oil.

@@jperrod1979 those fuel sending units were built with gremlins installed so they'd fail every 100k miles. And they stuck them up at the top of the tank so that mechanics could charge the enviro fees and 8 hours of labor each time it's serviced. It's called "rainmaking" and it's my least favorite thing about GMCs.

It still looks like there’s alot of play there just not as bad as before obviously. I was thinking of doing this to my obs Tahoe but do you really recommend it still or should I just deal with the 2” play I have now? Thanks!

Maybe he has a pitman arm thats worn out

This style steering will never feel "tight" unfortunately. I'd just check your pitman and idler arms and try to tighten the box up a turn or so with the backlash adjustment on the top.

I wouldn't do this on a 4WD. Besides, the rag joint last 20+ years, likely longer than your already old rig will last. I recently replaced mine in my 37 old 86 S10 but should have done so about 10 years ago. The rubber wasn't rotten or torn, but was oily & mushy from power steering & AC compressor leaks. A car following me reported me as a possible drunk driver once because my truck was tramlining badly on a road with a load of grooves in the asphalt. I had a bad front shock that was sticking down too that made things worse. Fixed.
