I'm really looking forward to seeing how the 6.1 stock manifolds will bolt up. I'd like to do that with my ram, but I do have the 08 engine, so I have the egr hole on cylinder #2 exhaust, and I have the rectangle exhaust port heads (Can't remember if it was Apache or Eagle), so I'm not sure if things will line up. Boy the "log" exhaust manifolds that came stock are crying for better flow!

@@The3chordwonder Unfortunately the SRT headers won't work for the ram trucks. They'll bolt up to the headers just fine, but they are too wide to fit the engine bay.

I want to do alot, but I bought my Challenger in January, and got the best service policy they offered. I have almost 5 years before I can really mess with it. Fortunately, the original owner installed a nice sounding exhaust and a hurst shifter on the 6 speed. Will be adding a sub and Amp for extra enjoyment soon, just haven't decided on what radio I want.

I’ve already done long tube headers catless mid pipes CAI 85mm throttle body one piece aluminum driveshaft and 100 octane tune. I have a new CompCams camshaft and valve springs and new hellcat lifters I’m going to install. My R/T put 375hp and 405tq on the dyno. That’s to bad seeing as the DA was over 6000’ that day.

30 yrs of doing this work, I've learned never to take anything to be "easy." Very few guys are actually able to teach this well. It's a gift that few appreciate. I've gotten my share of compliments for how I teach the work. The little things we learn working, that's the hard part to get across to new people. You've more than gotten that part down bro.

2014 Durango R/T awd 5.7. 130k miles. Just did the cam and lifter job. Tore it down as soon as I heard the tick. Two lifters were failed but hadn’t seized yet (one mds lifter and one non mds lifter went out). The coinciding lobes were beginning to pit and about 4 other lobes had the hardened coating rubbed off. Just caught it in time before the cam got chewed up. Did an mds delete kit by AMS had everything I needed and more. First ever cam/lifter job, pretty straight forward just took the weekend and about $2k. Shop quoted $5k. I’m getting better city mileage by 1-2mpg (according to the computer) with the mds delete and tune and it’s way smoother. Love this engine even more now that I’ve torn it down. Hopefully I’ll get another 200k+ miles out of it.

That resonates with me so much. Some that have high knowledge or skill don’t have the patience or ability to translate it in a coachable manner. My father could fix anything but couldn’t teach or explain it if his life depended on it. I would learn through trial and error on my own. Since then I vowed to myself that I would effectively teach my son anything I know how to do, with the intention of preparing him for the tough journey that is a man’s life

Hey man, I've done this job 3 times, twice on 2010 challengers. my own car is running a 392 cam, long tubes and magnuson blower. Just a piece of advice when putting it back together you don't need a crank pulley installation tool, simply heat up the inside diameter of the pulley with a heat gun or torch and it will slip right on.

Great work man! Sharing your experience and detail is very kind. New for me was learning of the ability to remove the Cowl bar. I put an S/C on my car and that would have helped a bunch if I'd previously known. Of course then, for the timing chain recall I had to R&R the S/C again since I didn't want to pay the shop to do it. Well done Sir!!! Excellent video! Clear concise and zero distractions. No annoying loud music, no glory shots of your latest impact tool in slow-mo or the dreaded grinding disc sparks! I’ve been wanting to do this exact cam in my 2010 Challenger RT 6spd (it’s Plum Crazy though) and this is the perfect vid series I’ve been looking for. I also agree with keeping the VVT and the fatter torque band it seems to provide. Can’t wait for the rest! Thanks so much making this! -Jim

Ballpark range how much horsepower do you hope to gain from this? I’ve been wanting to do this as well, but I’m planning on putting a 6.4 manifold on top
@ReignitedAuto
@ReignitedAuto 3 жыл бұрын
I've heard the 6.4 manifold gives good gains, but I'm unsure of fitting it in the engine bay. You'd have to come up with an air intake from scratch for sure. Personally, I'm hoping for a 40-50hp gain between all the mods. Thanks for watching! 👍

I can just imagine this guy used to work for someone, but thankfully he has surely found his calling in life. I mean imagine he could've still been stuck 8-5 and we wouldn't have such a great teacher. I love the calming professional manner he comes with in this video.

Thanks for a great video. I have a '17 Scat Pack and have been thinking of a cam swap once my warranty is expired. This video did show me that its easier than I thought. I was thinking front bumper, grill, etc would need to come off! Also glad to see that other stuff can be left attached (water pump, ac comp, etc) makes this job so much more doable in my home garage! Keep it up! Looking forward to part 2.
