The US military bought many of them for field repairs and they worked quite well being basically a DC-powered spool gun.

Once I saw what it really was, this became my purpose for keeping it. It will live in the offroad trailer I am going to build on the channel, so I'll always have a welder while my girl and I are overlanding.

What a great deal! I bought one of those, on CL about 5 years ago for $150 , and thought I got a good deal. Mine looked brand new and it was the Military version. BTW, that big round plug adapter, is Military spec, to plug into the power port of a Military Hummer. I lived pretty close to Fort Bragg, and these things show up for sale pretty often. Usually $250 - $500, so you hit a home run. I bought mine strictly for the spool-gun. I hooked it up to my 300 amp Airco Tig Machine and it welded aluminum pretty well. Nice score!👍

It’s called a Huble Connector for A Humbee and a Tank Connection!

The name "Hubble" is a famous one and also look for "slave cable" connectors. You can find a variety of NSN (National Stock Numbers).

I have a Snap on welder kind of like this it looks like a regular wire feed Mig it has 12 v and 24 v unit that switches to voltage. It has a wire feed control it has a 10 foot tweco whip and is set up for gas , .025, a gas solenoid or or use just flux core... it welds amazing

think these were copy of (or visa versa) of Cronatron product. Cronatron only sold them for a few years and ready welder hit the nitch 4x4 trail welder market.
