I bought a couple Saiga .223 rifles one and a half years ago. I was going to try and turn one into a later production AK-101 clone, but plans changed. I bought a Sureshot Chassis since Zentico and KPYK stuff was unavailable or too pricey. I sent it to 19Charlie Tactical to work on it and found out from them that it had a Heavy barrel profile similar to the @9HoleReviews' AK-Niner.
The SAG MK.3 Chassis has some issues/quirks. One being the bottom portion doesn't have very many M-Lok compatible slots which is kinda bizarre.

@@MisplacedArms sorry I was typing to fast lol, i ment to say weight sorry bro- how does the fact the chassis is a one peice distcover and handguard effect the overall weight and balance to the carbine and is is made out of aluminum for weight savings? does it throw the balance of the rifle off, which I could only imagine something that chunky would- and one last aesthetic question-if it is made of aluminium , is it anodized to that green color or is that a paint? The finish is honestly why it caught my eye, complemented the Kalashnikov so well and made it aesthetically pleasing, and why I think it looks pretty dope visually.
@MisplacedArms
@MisplacedArms Жыл бұрын
@@Mithradates_of_Los_Angeles There are 4 main parts to the mark 3. The topcover, chassis main body, chassis block and lower handguard. The main components are aluminum and will add weight to the system. However if installed correctly can let you run things a bit more streamlined. One of my biggest gripes is getting the earlier patterns of lower handguard which has less M-Lok slots. The finish is painted. Probably to cut costs and be less reflective. It would be interesting to see it color anodized though. I'm trying to work on a couple videos on the chassis around possible issues that people should be aware of before deciding to get one. Probably not going to be the best videos, but might have some useful info.

Hey brother, beautiful set up! Just wondering, it looks like you haven’t gotten the front end converted ie the gas block removed and pushed back and the hand-guard retainer right? So it’ll work as is with this chassis?
@MisplacedArms
@MisplacedArms Жыл бұрын
When I got it it was partially converted. It had a Bulgarian hand guard retainer. Don't know about the gas block since I didn't convert it since it has a thiccer barrel profile compared to other saigas. As far as I know it would technically be better to use unconverted saiga rifles since hand guard retainers and grenade launcher lugs might interfere with the chassis

I'm really digging the Sureshot Mk3 chassis but I wonder if the primary arms 3x prism would work well with it because of where it would be mounted to the main mount and the eyebox of the prism? Would it be better to stick with a red dot main mount and magnifier on the upper rear section?
@MisplacedArms

I don't think PA 3x prism would work with it. A red dot and magnifier combo or perhaps a LPVO would work.

@@MisplacedArms thanks for the feedback! I enjoy the 3x prism setup on my AR as I have a backup offset red dot for close engagement. I had an lpvo setup before but the weight savings and speed of the prism/red dot really works for me. Prisms work great cuz of my astigmatism but a red dot/magnifier combo might be the best solution. @@MisplacedArms whether it’s the 1x or 3x prism, they have to be mounted to rear rail which isn’t securely attached to the receiver so there’s no way to zero the optic. Since the red dot has infinite eye relief, that can be mounted to the front upper rail which is secured to the receiver. The magnifier might go on the rear rail but hopefully, the zero isn’t affected.
@MisplacedArms

@@artimla492 If The chassis is secured properly and the red dot is zeroed you should be fine. The rear part of the chassis does move, that will affect the magnifier's sight picture. You should be able to hit stuff still

Did the Circle 10 magazine fit or did you have to do some milling?
@MisplacedArms
@MisplacedArms Жыл бұрын
The gunsmith did some milling, but not enough for most of my Circle 10 mags to fit. So you would have to send more than one mag to get decent results with the milling. The commercial and military Polish polymer mags fit and work now. Also some Russian AK-74 mags fit and might work with a 5.56 adapter follower.

Isn't that a lot of extra weight to add to an already heavy rifle just to mount a eotech? I means that's got to be like 8.5 or 9lbs at least just to rifle a 5.56 much less accurately than an $800 6-7lb AR. I mean if it's for just fun, ok but as a rifle to anything serious, 5.56 aks in general make little sense let alone all that mlok and rail just for a dot.
