@@chocolatte6157 I've read what an owner of one expensive old racing car said in an interview, he basically said "If you're driving/racing one of these cars while scared stiff of its value, you're easily the most dangerous person on the track" and the word "dangerous" isn't used as a compliment.

The same, they have a charm that modern cars didn't really have today. Sure that it's already evolving well in terms of engineering, but in terms of styling? I'm not so sure.

Should have put a Lightweight 'E' in the fray. It would have least given Kristensson something to think about...

They're probably even faster today, as these engines have been rebuilt using modern materials and machinery, with finer tolerances than could be achieved back in the 60s

One time at the Revival, one owner of one of the original Shelby Daytona Coupes put Tom Kristensen _and_ Kenny Brack to drive it... Long story short, even rain didn't stop them from dominating the race, they just kept on, sliding the Daytona around the track...

He's a good guy. Our tiny towns hero. Has a his own 'Tom Kristensen' road, where he of course build a nice house with a big garage.

Well, a bit later in the race at 6:42, the #73 Jaguar E Type's front brakes started to get red hot, and then some, sparks flying off it!

just watch some rallying for brake sparks, or some F12 TDF videos :P

The XKE had a very narrow track; look at one from the direct front and rear sometime. They're absolutely comical.

I never understood the idea of hating somebody because they earned more money than you. I can understand jealousy or envy, but why hate somebody because they made better choices or worked hard? I know the media likes to portray them as evil just cause they have money , but Unless you can prove they did it through some corrupt means (like most politicians), then you are just proving why they made it and you didn't.

Down the back straight (which isn't straight) they're doing around 140-150mph.

If you're talking about the car driven by Kristensen, no. It's good ol'front engined V12 Ferrari. In fact, ALL of the cars in this race were front engined.

They were originals. The car Tom Kristensen is driving is chassis 2973GT, a 1961 "Competition" model, won the Tour de France in 1962.

That's an old mod of the car, which is chassis number 2973 GT. The original owner of the car, Andre Simon, fitted wider rims and tires in 1962, which probably helped him win the Tour de France that year.

It's a 250 GT, not a GTO. Know your Ferraris.

know your Ferrari 's..... It is a 250 GTO. There is not something like a 250GT.

Know your Ferrari's elnouk, there is a 250GT, its leading the race, its called a 250GT SWB Berlinetta.

Use your eyes. The green car is a 250 GTO, the race leader is a 250 SWB. Not real difficult to see.

The 250 GT SWB is a GT too, not a sports racer. Ferrari had other cars to compete in the top category - SPORTS CARS - and those were the true racers indeed. The 250 GT SWB was released as a street car in 1959, but being a performance car it had track potential of course... just like the E-Type. It's just that this particular 250 GT SWB is obviously the competition version from 1961, while the E-Type is obviously the street version. So, they're in the same league - GT cars - just that this Ferrari is the competition spec. You can see the street version of the 250 GT SWB at 2:10 and is slower. But, of course, it matters who preps the car for competition too, it can become faster or slower with some seconds.

MG421982 was that not just a different model 250GT?

Then Jaguar started upgrading the 'E' little by little. Result - farewell SWB, hello GTO. The GTO "ate the almost standard 'E' for breakfast", but Coventry developed the 'E' into the true Lightweight, and brilliant, brilliant racing ensued (Graham Hill at his peak was unbeaten in the Lightweight, and some young unknown by the name of Jackie Stewart did brilliantly the year after...).

Consider this as one rare occasion where rich share something with us.
