Our BIGGEST DETAILING EVER! Mercedes Benz 280SL Pagoda // PART 2

This 1971 Mercedes 280SL Pagoda is the largest detailing job we've ever done! This classic Mercedes came straight to us from Bring a Trailer and we had our work cut out for us. We spent 5 days dry ice cleaning, 1+ day polishing the chrome, and at least 3 days on paint correction. We didn't even touch the soft top!
The paint on this Mercedes Benz 280SL Pagoda was in dire shape and really thin. This job was so big that we split it in to two episodes! In this second video, we tackle the paint correction, chrome polish, rust repair, and a deep restoration of this Mercedes 280SL cabriolet. We pulled out all the stop for this one. We took this classic Benz down to the frame and restored this car from the ground up!

What an incredible transformation. You guys are the masters of detailing for sure! I was really surprised that chrome came back to life as far gone as it looks initially. That 280SL still looks great 50 years later! What an awesome Grand Tourer of the period. That is one lucky owner after the I AM Detailing refresh.

Great work guys, this classic gets a second youth after your oustanding treatment. The second most amazing is that we realize in these days cars were made to last. Watching the paint and the crome restoration revive after half a century says all there is to know about the material and production quality used in that era. I dont think that any of todays models ,even the really expensive ones, could ever reach that age nicely to be retouched ,since the expiration date is cut short from the drawing board. Keep rocking guys and save as many of these rare mechanical gems as possible.
