I'm honestly kinda glad they went this route with Morales. Imagine how jarring it would be to just run into somebody after that long and assume everything is exactly the same. Morales only knew Rick for a short time so this reaction kinda makes sense tbh.

It’s kind of parallel with Morgan. Rick meets Morgan and they go their separate path only for one to go looking for the other. Morales left lost everything and never looked back. They were in episodes for only a bit. Imagine if it was Morgan or in your eyes a friend you hadn’t seen in forever puts a gun up to your head only for your brother to put them down and they knew who they were too but it didn’t matter

@@ThorstenDerWeberknecht If Rick truly wanted to turn Morales against Negan and the Saviors and get Morales back on his side he should have told him that Negan killed Sophia with Lucille right in front of Carol. That was obviously a lie but Sophia was already dead anyways and it would probably be most effective at changing Morales’ mind. Morales was a family man and his kids were best friends with Carl and Sophia before they left the group. Morales probably cared more for Sophia and Carl than he did for Glenn. Sure it’s a lie but Carol wasn’t even around at that time and she wouldn’t mind if it got an old friend back on their side. Also Negan made it clear the Saviors don’t kill kids so if Morales thought Negan was a hypocrite then it would definitely have helped get him to join forces with Rick again.

A lot of people seem to forget that Morales was a part of the Saviours, and that Rick and his group almost definitely murdered a bunch of his friends - in fact they were right in the middle of it. Bro fr like before they got to Alexandria was my favorite version of Rick. After terminus. Negan even saw a tape of Rick from back then and said “I would not have screwed with that guy…but that’s not you anymore is it Rick?” When he stopped being so cocky and badass it honestly broke my heart. The night they met negan, when he draggged Rick like a dog on to the R.V infront of everyone it pissed me off so much

Fun fact: Daryl and Merle were originally planning to mug the group.... Morales didnt really stick around for long enough to bond with Daryl in the same way he did the others... So Daryl didnt feel as connected... To him Morales was that same punk he was gonna rob... Only now he was with the outfit that killed some of his friends. At most Daryl was like "oh hey its that guy... Welp Rick youll thank me for this later!"
