You're wrong though, with regards to the question "who ruled India". Irish partition only happened in 1922, that's towards the very end of British rule in India. Back then it was called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland (not northern ireland). Many colonial officers were Irish! Yes Ireland was treated a little inferior by the rest of Britain, but some elite Irishmen were given colonial posts and many became rich.
