Paying Homage to the clients' traditions, Hombale is a contemporary home built using traditional materials with unique techniques. Located in Banashankari, 6th Stage, the developing part of Bengaluru, this home is divided into a duplex penthouse for the clients and two apartments on the lower floors for rental.
The house has stunning exteriors and cosy interiors. This project came about through the mutual effort put in by the architect and the client's son who happens to be a civil engineer. The use of thermally efficient materials like clay blocks makes the house cooler and eliminates the need for fans and ACs.
Having its own light source through the Totti Mane (Courtyard), Hombale doesn't rely on the surroundings as the architectural language of South Bengaluru is still developing.

Wow so much of architectural expressions in 1200 sqft plot size. Looks beautiful from outside and clean design and layouts inside. Very nice ...beautifully done. Didn't see much closet area in the second bedroom though. But space well utilised given plot area. Congratulations

The sunken courtyard is very dangerous in my opinion. People will miss that step, and especially old people can get injured

The outside looks not that great. Also why the furniture is becoming so sad. I can sit on floor much comfortable than in those low chairs.

Too much redness inside the house. The Kota flooring’s beautiful, but should have used a darker grouting. Kitchen’s extremely small. However, the exterior architecture’s quite nice.

Not at all practice design, trying to create over designing as well as playing with round shapes.its very unfriendly for old-age.over use of clay bricks.tu much turn n curves for free flowing walks.very bad planing

Where is the lift? As it is the owner's house is on the 3rd floor and it is a duplex. Design is very personal and i wont comment on it but practicality is universal. No lift means extremely difficult for elders. So elderly or if someone is ill have to climb to the 3rd floor and then another floor within the house if their room is on the 4th floor. And why rental income? Spending so much money to construct the house and it will take many years for rental yield to be recovered. And have to deal with tenants which you cant guarantee if they will be good or not. I wouldve invested the money elsewhere instead of building rental property, surely will get better returns.
