Especially in Manhattan on the Park Avenue bus line for the Park Avenue Bus Company. I am a fan of the Honeymooners. 😊

From an era when utilitarian meant style.

We had those here in Milwaukee until the early 1980’s. Very distinctive buses. I wonder if anyone was able to put a modern power train in one.
@bryancooper26992 ай бұрын
No, The 6-71 has been used as standard for both Yellow and GM oldlooks since 1940. Only 1 exception was the Turbo Cruiser and when that experiment was over . A standard 6-71 powertrain was installed.

@@bryancooper2699 I meant as a repower later on. There appears to be enough room for an 8V71, 6V92 or a CUMMINS L10.
@bryancooper26992 ай бұрын
Nothing more modern has ever been installed in the oldlooks later in their existence. A cummins L-10 would fit because it’s a flat block like the 4-71 and 6-71 V Blocks would not fit

As a kid, I remember riding in one that was new. It replaced one that was known as the bug eye model. Instead of the headlights being recessed, they were mounted on the surface of the front of the bus making them appear bug eyed.. When new, the model here was much quieter and much more smoother to ride on than the older models. One of their fleet purchases was from A.C. Brill Co. They were terrible. Under powered, rode stiffer and generally poorer quality than the GM buses.

I rode on that type of bus when I was a kid. They had them in Baltimore. Went downtown shopping with my Mom. Also rode them to high school a few times. I liked them they were nice.

I remember riding these busses in NYC.

The New York City Transit Authority buses were dark green from the bottom of the bus to the windows and light green from the windows to the roof. I am a New Yorker who grew up in NYC during the Mad Men era of the 1960s.
@melvinjacobs2328Ай бұрын
@@luislaplume8261 I remember the two tone green. They were the city busses. There was also "Ride the Surface Way" busses in the Bronx that had a Red, White, and silver color scheme. The silver was on the roof.

Was this the same model as the one where Rosa Parks refused to get up from her seat ?
@Septa-tific0022 ай бұрын
Not this one in particular, no. the one Rosa Parks refused to get up from her seat is sitting at a museum now. It looks like this one but not this one in particular. If you want me to send you the link for the museum, I can do that for you!
