Daily, Americans exercise their rights secured by the Constitution. The most widely discussed and debated part of the Constitution is known as the Bill of Rights. Belinda Stutzman provides a refresher course on exactly what the first ten amendments grant each and every American citizen.

It took me a lot of traveling and living abroad to make me appreciate the landmark genius of the Bill of Rights. Americans, don’t take this special document for granted. Yes that especially includes the second amendment.

It’s clearly important & can be essential in certain situations, but the 1st is 1st for a reason. Talking should always come first & is far more commonly necessary. It’s imperfect, but nearly always preferable. Violence is only the right answer when truly necessary.

If words are violence, the 1st Amendment is violence. How is it that half of the US isn't understanding what these pyrotechnic progressive clown puppets are up to? Whether or not the puppets realize it, the source of the money that funds their aristocracy has the overarching goal to set the Bill of Rights on fire.

@Raymond Tremblay I’m gonna make a blanket statement but bare with me You and liberals in general don’t think I should be allowed to own an ar15 because it’s “scary” to you. Ok, but my m14 that shoots the same ammunition, uses 20+ round magazines, has the same range, is completely fine. There is no logic behind any anti gun argument, sorry. When the government melt there’s I’ll let them melt mine. It’s bigger than just guns. Clearly you trust the government and think they have your best interest in mind so you wouldn’t understand
@cameronhill6179
@cameronhill6179 3 жыл бұрын
@Raymond Tremblay I highly suggest that you go to a local gun store and check them out for yourself before assuming that they are all bad. My parents were the most anti-gun people that I knew, but as soon as they took their first steps into a shop they can’t stop thinking about what gun they want next. Go through the process and tell me no one needs an AR-15.
@cameronhill6179
@cameronhill6179 3 жыл бұрын
@Raymond Tremblay Self defense, competition shooting, hunting small game, target practice, rebelling against tyrannical governments. Give me a reason why I don’t need an AR-15.

@cameronhill6179 3 жыл бұрын
@Raymond Tremblay It doesn’t do anything any semi-automatic rifle can’t do. Maybe even less in some cases. It’s not that special when you look at it from a technical perspective, it just looks different then what inexperienced people are used to. I highly encourage you to go to a local gun shop so that you can really see what these rifles can do.
@TomboysOnlyFool
@TomboysOnlyFool 2 жыл бұрын
@Raymond Tremblay You say an ar15/ak47 does nothing a hunting rifle cant do, but if that is the case, then why do you say nobody should be able to own them? Clearly from those two comments you're implying that they have no advantage, so by your own logic, shouldn't it be fine to own an ar15 or an ak47 in the same way you can own a hunting rifle? Or are you implying that we should own no guns, which is an even more ridiculous claim. Based on what you said, its obvious that you don't know much about this topic, so like others recommended, indulge in your second amendment right. You might actually learn something and have some fun in the meantime.

Atlanta had 87 homicides in 2011. Chicago, with some of the strictest gun laws in the US, had 435 in 2011. They already hit 436 in 2012. When lawful citizens are deterred from owning firearms they can't protect themselves against armed criminals and rely on police for protection. Average Chicago police response time? 3-6 minutes, assuming you make it to a phone and the criminal sticks around to meet the cops. That is a bad effect. Gun restrictions have already proven they raise crime rates.

Each amendment is a right, but is also a responsibility. We must use them as tools to protect our fellow humans, and not infringe on their rights. By failing to hold up both the right and responsibility that comes with it you are abusing your rights. A protest shouldn’t interfere with the lives of others, and firearms protect you and others. I wish people would see there’s more than just being entitled to things.

Yes! So many people use the 1st amendment and say they "have free speech" when somebody else criticizes their stance (in an attempt to shut them up) despite the fact that by doing so they're literally condemning the OTHER person's free speech. Freedom of speech is not freedom of consequence and all that.

So, the second amendment declared it legal to bear arms? ... That doesn't make sense, because how would they have written the first amendment without arms? Did they just not have arms? If so, why did they have to write a whole amendment about it being legal to bear arms? Boy, is the government and all that a confusing thing.

If I’m not mistaken (and please someone correct me if I am), the second amendment also guaranteed the right to keep firearms in case we needed to overthrow our government if it became corrupt.
